Just installed. It's working well on Linux. I really like the new look!
The visual indicators and scope is great.

Hive 2 is really amazing. The new modulation sources are great and have some unique features that brought excitement back into synth programming for me.

No real problems to report. Here's some initial feedback:

- The shape sequencer's ratcheting feature is really powerful but I couldn't find it until I read the manual. I think this is the only feature that requires use of the mouse wheel? Perhaps a modifier key (ctrl/cmd or alt) + drag could be used and/or add ratchet x1, x2, x3, x4 options in the context menu.

- The function generators' input drop down does not let me select pitch wheel and mod wheel, but I can drag and drop these onto the input. Seems like they should be in the function input drop down menu? (Especially because the use of pitch wheel is mentioned in the manual, so this was confusing)

- The function generators' input drop down does not let me select "none" after I have selected something else. But the manual says "For a simple note-triggered envelope, set the Input to *none* and the Mode to Envelope or One Shot.". I think "gate" and "none" are the same thing? So Maybe the manual just needs to be changed to say "gate", and perhaps the input should default to "gate"? Or let us reselect "none" if it's somehow different from "gate"

- With the advanced matrix mod features, especially S&H, it can be difficult to tell what is going on. I wish I could see the matrix mods in the scope. As a workaround / new feature, maybe you could let the matrix mod slots be an input to the functions (although I could see some feedback loop issues with that, but hey why not if it's technically feasible?)

- The new drag and drop modulation in the main interface with the orange dot to control the mod amount is fast and convenient. Now I want this feature for the mod matrix too.

- (Sorry, people probably ask for this all the time but...) Now that's there's even more modulation options, any chance of adding two more matrix tabs to give us 24 modulation slots?

I'm on Windows 10, VST2 64-bit in Ableton Live 10.1 if it makes any difference.

Two small FR's and one general comment:

1. Labels for matrix slots, just like the X/Y's. Might be a cool way to remind myself what I did on a patch, and/or help with ease of use as sound designers could label their matrix slots (or I could go through a patch and label them).

2. Loop <> mode for the FG. Why not right? Might be interesting to alternate between envelope shapes in forward then reverse, adding more flexibility and randomness.

Also, editing the pattern waveforms is cool, but the mousewheel thing was not obvious to me. I kind of feel like Shift or Alt or Ctrl + drag should offer that same functionality. I mean, not a big deal, I'll learn mousewheel over time, but it wasn't at all intuitive or obvious and caused me to crack open the manual. Note: Adamj beat me to this point, but I started this post and wrote that up before he made the exact same comment.

It be nice to have all the synchronized rate options that the LFO has (dots, triplets, etc) in the shape sequencer's time base drop down menu.

Hive serial number:
(serial is given here)

I don't seem to fit the suggested outcome of the pdf of being issued a Hive 2 license automatically. When will I be issued a Hive 2 serial? I can only use it in demo mode right now. Thanks!
I'm in the same boat, but after looking at the original post I think this part "(Note: People who buy Hive 1.x from today will get their Hive 2.x licenses added manually early next week)" is about our situation. We should receive codes manually Monday or Tuesday, since we purchased on/after May 23. But if anyone has clearer info please feel free to correct me :)

Also, I've really been enjoying the demo so far. Can't wait to unlock it this week and really dig into it!

Very good finds! We'll check these things out...

(yes, "none" defaults to "Gate")

Sorry for short answer...rushing out to dinner...

Thanks for user-guide typo reports etc :-)

Bought 1 during the grace period, just got my licence for 2. installed fine. Don't have a lot of time to play with it, though.

Urs wrote: Sat May 25, 2019 8:34 am No, these controls are meant as Macros, like the "easy knobs" in many NI products. Modulating them would defeat the purpose: Their meant for realtime hands-on control in a live situation, or automation in a production environment.

However, as you can see, unlike the XYs in Zebra2, the XYs in Hive are based on the very same principle as the ModMatrix. So whatever means you have to modulate XYs, you can do the same thing in the ModMatrix itself.

That said, a "modulation recorder" is something I could contemplate. I don't know if I would go for an XY-approach though, as the concept would clash with the existing XYs. We have dropped the concept of Vector Synthesis due to this clash (and we did the superset of 2D wavetable synthesis instead). Anyhow, I'm just very happy with how Hive 2.0 turned out right now, let's first see how everyone goes with it before we make new plans :)
Many thanks for your answer Urs! The reasons you gave make sense to me, so again congratz on your update :) :tu:

I'm able to successfully register, but Hive 2 reverts to demo mode whenever I load a new instance of it into a track, requiring me to enter my serial number each time. Is it this way until release?

In Reaper on Windows 10 it was this way until I closed the DAW and opened a new instance. If anyone should try to help you it may be useful to tell which DAW and OS you're running. ;-)

Oh dear. That's all I had to do. It's fine now.

user manual mismatch ?:

on page 48 "WOW" is listed as hidden parameter for chorus

shouldn't it be listed for DELAY (p 49 ff) instead?

Bought the upgrade before even trying out the demo.
That's how you get 100% loyalty, charging a reasonable price for new features, VS every other software company getting you in the door on a "blow out sale" then charging you 50-70% of the retail price simply to upgrade! :tantrum:

I'm loving the sound (and workflow) of this thing so much.
