bwuhahaha, I won't lie, I'm doing something not too dissimilar sonically at least.

Thanks @Taron - will stick my nose into SPAN again - I must confess after making the changes I didn't fully check it out … any particular time where the pain kicks in???

I did get the feeling the violin was a bit too loud in a few places … I have pushed it a bit now and then, maybe too much :-(

PS PM'd you a link to an updated version

lol My wife picked up one of those NES Classic consoles to free up the living room television. My son and I have been tearing up some Castlevania...he likes those games more than the PS4 haha
Just a touch of EQ and a tickle of compression

Thank you very much - it is the first time ever a stranger has said something that nice about my tracks

in my efforts to make audio rate fm less abrasive, the cleanest solution I've found is to use this handy delete key, but suggestions are welcome.

fairly standard practice is several stages of soft clipping and filtering but I'm trying to avoid this.

this seems to necessitate the task of adding a couple of lower layers; a consistent sub and a frequency-rich, growly stereo bass to support it

Hi all, me again … just replaced my SC Qyooo track again - hopefully I have made many improvements to the violin solo, both in performance, timbre and mix terms. :phones:

Enjoy

edit: misc jokes deleted. People forgot how to laugh on the internet in the late 20teens, plus I take everything extremely seriously, because everything is a joke so why not laugh, seriously.

I’ve been encouraged by a higher power, who will remain nameless for now, for reasons beyond my mere human comprehension, to provide works in progress. Though my feeble mind can’t fathom the myriad of true reasons for this, one appears to be so that you all can offer input on the several blatant errors I leave in all of my entries, before they remain permanent scars on the face of the internet and this community.

That pack has a few FMAR basses, as I call em, if anyone cares to experiment with the sound design I was talking about. That gigantic qyooo poly vibrato patch in there can be a real tear jerker

Taron, that is a great track. Really loved the range and textures you used. Nice work, Man.

Cool, I read the thread and I see some info about this audio rate FM. Most of this stuff I’m aware of, but there are some interesting new things.

I’m glad to see some serious synthesis talk. I’ve tried to encourage this in the past to no avail, but leave it to Taron to be an inspiration to all, far beyond my simplistic, broad brush approach.

It's funny to see development suggestions about qyooo because I took one look at it and assumed this would be a nightmare to modify, given it already has stacked pages to compensate for what it packs on the gui already.

My first inclination was to delve into the allpass filters and brilliant filter routing – that’s what this synth is about.

I would’ve even designed it with fewer features to emphasize this.

Lately, I long for fm envelopes in all the synths that don’t have them, but this has a sine wave, a pitch envelope, plus dedicated noise and stereo width - not to mention several assignable lfos and envelopes, so this is very luxurious to me.

However, given there are 4 scenes, env, and lfos I first assumed that they would apply to scenes. They don’t, but if I went to the length of having 4 of each, which usually means more cpu load since I’m a blithering idiot, I’d definitely find a way to switch on env/lfo linking to the scenes.

One thing I neglected was the interesting ringmod setup, which isn’t something I experiment with often.

Overall I made some stuff with qyooo that was unexpected, which I enjoyed and learned from.

edit: also was good to see talk about TDR. I knew from the moment I stumbled on them that they were great - but fairly recently I realized how incredible a dream team between Vlad G and VoS is. If you read the manual of Kotelnikov you might learn a lot more than you'd expect. I've started to use Nova much more often for my sidechaining too...

Tough round! I reached for a lot and fell short a lot, have to admit Qyooo was a big challenge for me, really hit my sound design weak-spot (almost as much as Surge :P). Whoever designed "Allpass Horns", I owe you big-time, I had no idea PWM could make that sound! :D

REAPER, 58 instances of Qyooo, "mastered" clumsily with a Limiter No6 preset - 37 ReaEQs, 13 OrilRivers, handful of other minor stuff. Sorry the mix/master could be better, I was going in circles and just had to get it out the door.
