Obviously hiring 3rd party coders which did some fixes he sell as paying updates in the past didn't worked out very well so he thought a cloud would do just fine to generate some money.
Great job!![]()

Don't forget that one of disco dsp's most famous synth 'discovery 'was coded by the late Juan Antonio Arguelles Rius aka ''arguru''
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juan_Anto ... elles_Rius
The new zdf filters are probably done by george himself .
He also coded vertigo etc..(and lots of other stuff ..) , almost the entire disco dsp catalogue is arguru's work
I remember back in the day around 2006 there was a dispute between arguru and george , and arguru provided discovery as a free download ( it only lasted a couple of days )

Before reading this thread and the Obxd synthesizer thread I knew nothing of Disco Dsp.
Suffice to say I doubt that I will ever gamble on any Synth that Disco Dsp releases.
The disappearing act didn't help and Cloud enforcement is highly dubious indeed.
Sometimes you don't need others to warn you, call it intuition if you will.

Hard to believe that DiscoDSP will ever again release anything "own".. But still DPro and Corona are great synths. What I really like in Corona, is those different functions when combining oscillators. Shame it's quite hard to recommend anyone to buy any DDSP synths anymore

Looking at the thread it seems to be because he turned up half an hour early to the event?! Definitely some vital bits of information missing....

Ah... I just logged into my discoDSP account to see what's up. I see what you are all complaining about... and, I agree. I rectract my last comment. My comment was based on at least the first year of updates being "free". I purchased in 09/10 2018 and like y'all said when you try to download you have to buy this cloud service.... no, that's not right. I agree with you, customers should have been given notice of this and from that date 1 year of free updates. But just switching off downloads and requiring a paid annual access as has been done is definitely a bad move.Neon Breath wrote: Wed May 29, 2019 3:45 pm Wow that's an epic shooting oneself in the foot with a bazooka.

I always wondered why. It's hard to live on old plugin's sales alone. No more ideas? No DSP skills?Distorted Horizon wrote: Wed May 29, 2019 1:31 pm Hard to believe that DiscoDSP will ever again release anything "own".. But still DPro and Corona are great synths. Anyway, on the topic, i don't think George is obliged to comment on this. It is what it is, and, if people don't like it, it's clear what they should do. Vote with your wallet. The vast majority won't read this anyway.

Especially when you even don't know what you get for the $29 you have to pay beforehand: All you know is that you have the right to download what you already bought (impressive) which also include updates for 1 year but.. Something like minimum update cycles every 3 or at least 6 month doesn't exist at discoDSP.

Is important to spread the word and clarify things. What's the problem talking the truth and realities about bad businesses moves? I don't approve with the bashing, but this is a very legit reason to feel insulted and disrespected, therefore people can and should express what they feel. And many people will read this thread.

The move simply points how how little a EULA (end user license AGREEMENT) means to some developers.
All we can do is try to drive him out of business. Never spend another penny with him and when he spams the forums let people know what kind of person he has become. Eventually the market will sort things out just like it did for Crysonic.

Mine was NFR but I think I did some sounds a few years back.. I know I had Discovery a few years back too but maybe he revoked my licence.
Oh well
