You may wanna topcheese. The interface and sound design was second nature to me almost instantly. Sure I've been around synths, but I've seen plenty of good and bad design -- Sektor is almost too easy to get the exact sound you're looking for quickly (if you can focus and not get lost in sonic funland), then go nuts with all the other options if you feel like sculpting.

Which is perfect since I make all my own sounds, and am typically sounding out a particular one in my head that a billion presets will just distract me from.

Intuitive synth with great sounds, no brainer purchase I almost feel bad for Initial Audio its an absolute steal.
Have you tried Vital?

Except that's not the situation. The situation is that you and others think that an MPE enabled controller is useless if the instrument you want to control doesn't support MPE. I am simply pointing out that at least 95% of what makes a Seaboard so amazing doesn't require MPE at all and that the actual use-cases for MPE are minuscule compared to everything else an MPE controller has to offer. My Seaboard Rise cost almost as much as the laptop I run my set-up from and even though I never use it in MPE mode, I don't regret spending all that money for a second because it has so much to offer no matter what instrument you are using it with.

All you do with this constant complaining is put people off buying an MPE controller, which in turn means fewer developers are going to bother supporting MPE. You do yourself a disservice.
Don’t expect them to care about a feature you might need...
I think that might be the difference between you and I - I see no reason whatsoever that any dev should care at all about any feature I might want. Why would they? I'm sure they have their own list of priorities, I am not about to tell them how they should be running their business.

I mainly complain that they advertise a feature which is broken and obviously they don’t want to fix it ever. I would even recommend Sektor if they would stop advertising non working features. My rant is meant as protection for those who care about MPE...
And if you read my reply carefully, I mentioned using and loving Thorn with my LinnStrument though it does not support MPE... I am all with you, but not with Initial Audio...

If they didn't have a demo so you could check for yourself, I'd understand your point of view but they do have a demo so I don't understand your point of view at all.

Well, a lot of clamor about 'support MPE' is for instruments which aren't built to exploit that wide pitch bend and would do very little with note-off velocity any way you cut it. And CC74 timbre can be kind of exciting via that sort of swipe up and down, but it's still just CC74 timbre which you can draw in or control any of the usual ways.

It is a narrow set of things which are totally exploited in say Equator (pitch bend the most salient factor for me) but it would be a serious adaptation for the majority of instruments which is not necessarily a good investment. IE: I think you have to pretty much build MPE in as part of your whole idea, glomming it on after-the-fact may not be much of a plus.

im trying to think of a situation where i would need a +/-48 pitch bend...

When you want to do a 5 minute riser in a EDM track? :hihi:

Anyone who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.

Agreed. I emailed them about MPE this week and they gave no indication that it has any issues. Their reply:

"in order to use mpe you have to activate mpe mode in the sektor settings. You can assign mpe parameters from the xpression page. The introduction video covers the basics (YouTube link)"

So if I hadn't read this thread and I demo'd it I'd be wondering why it doesn't work and be wasting time and thinking this is one to miss if an advertised feature is broken.
I've just demo'd it and Reaper crashed so not a good start.
Not taken by the presets so far so I'll dig out the Roli and demo it again with that and dig deeper.

What exactly is broken about MPE support?

I just wanna know if theres a way I can add my own IRs because they have a convo reverb with like 4 weird IRs.

Post

Try dropping them in the %appdata%\IgniteVST\Sektor\Expansions\Factory\Impulse Responses folder. That is where the current IRs are located.

Is it possible to create wavetables in Sektor from samples? Or import wavetables?

You can import wavetables. From the user manual:

you can create your own wavetables by placing single cycle waveforms inside a folder with the name format “Your Wavetable.wt” Notice the .wt on the end. Check the Wavetable folder of the Factory expansion for an example of this in action. Inside each “.wt” folder we place the single cycle waveforms. We recommend a maximum of 20-30 waveforms per table and a size of 2048 sample size, this is to avoid too long loading times. To keep a set order for the waveforms in the table each waveform should be alphabetically named or appended with a number, for example the names could be wave01, wave02, wave03, which will keep them in the order desired.
