Thanks. I guess I will carry on running the beta then, rather than the release version. You saved me a big download![]()

(Your VST2s being in the VST subsection, and VST3 in the ... you guessed it! - VST3 subsection)
On a side note, did they finally address the issue with displaying multiple WaveShells?

Nope, but alas I think that's Waves' silly nonsense that they need to sort out (I think mine has grown to 6 wavesHELLs now!), as in my VST2 and VST3 folders in the Program Files directory there are multiple .dll files for each of the waveshells. So Ableton is correctly interpreting them as separate subfolders, but why Waves is making all these dlls I have no idea !

I'm not concerned with the directories themselves, because most DAWs don't display that internal information. I'm more curious about the DAWs browser, where it counts for searching purposes.mcbpete wrote: Wed May 29, 2019 3:38 pm Nope, but alas I think that's Waves' silly nonsense that they need to sort out (I think mine has grown to 6 wavesHELLs now!), as in my VST2 and VST3 folders in the Program Files directory there are multiple .dll files for each of the waveshells. Now that I got the install working, I can be ecstatic!
This is why, when Ableton does a paid upgrade to Live like 10, I tend to counter the "it's not enough of a feature release to be worth the $" argument with "not yet, maybe, but wait". A lot of seemingly little features like freezing w/ sidechain and bouncing with sends/master are game-changes for some people.
There's always a wish-list - DAWs are inherently complex - but the updates always tend to surprise with useful new features.

Ok found out how to get VST3 working...
DMS Ascension is still a mess... actually somehow more unstable. was sitting at 20% on a simple supersaw... then suddenly 30 then eventually 70%+ cpu.
That synth is... dead to me unless the devs update it

same here, was thinking about switching to vst3 for this only purposemcbpete wrote: Wed May 29, 2019 3:29 pm I was surprised by that too - That was the reason I was going to update my default channel strip and master bus with VST3 equivalents but looks like you can do it with reg'lar VST2 plugins as well !
welcome to dynamic eq on each tracks, and my vocodex setup should also be easier.

Probably because it's been available for ages in all the other DAWs and it's frankly quite embarrassing to advertise that it's only been added now?drdriller wrote: Wed May 29, 2019 3:27 pm SIDE CHAIN INPUT ON THIRD PARTY PLUGINS !!
i guess why this new feature is not more advertised, that is a game changer for me.

Woah woah, stop here for a moment. So is it an groundbreaking feature, or lack of actual feature so far? Is this why I wasn't able to set up 3rd-party sidechained plugins inside Ableton?antic604 wrote: Thu May 30, 2019 11:01 amProbably because it's been available for ages in all the other DAWs and it's frankly quite embarrassing to advertise that it's only been added now?drdriller wrote: Wed May 29, 2019 3:27 pm SIDE CHAIN INPUT ON THIRD PARTY PLUGINS !!

I know all my other DAWs - Bitwig, Reason, Cubase, S1 - have had this already for years, either directly on the VST device (Bitwig, Reason) or by adding a dedicated send (but one that did not needed additional return track).DJ Warmonger wrote: Thu May 30, 2019 11:08 amWoah woah, stop here for a moment. In Live you had to set up an actual ghost track (e.g. a copy of kick channel, or a dedicated return track) and send it's output to VSTs sidechain input.
So yeah - it's was a lacking feature.

Seriously? Live didn't have sidechain input for theird party plugins until now? And people complain about Studio One being immature.drdriller wrote: Wed May 29, 2019 3:27 pm SIDE CHAIN INPUT ON THIRD PARTY PLUGINS !!

Nested groups was a lacking feature for waay too long, but they still made a song and dance of it when it finally dropped. Guess they were all out of moves this time aroundantic604 wrote: Thu May 30, 2019 11:55 amI know all my other DAWs - Bitwig, Reason, Cubase, S1 - have had this already for years, either directly on the VST device (Bitwig, Reason) or by adding a dedicated send (but one that did not needed additional return track).DJ Warmonger wrote: Thu May 30, 2019 11:08 amWoah woah, stop here for a moment. Small thing, but just discovered the "Edit Value" in envelopes is not only for the breakpoints (as I foolishly assumed), but works for whole segments and selections when you hover the mouse over them.
Also, never thought it about it much since I only use Live, but one advantage of Wavetable now is that it can load the DRM'ed AIFF files from Live Packs directly (like from the Retro Synths Pack).

The artist ELPHNT just brought to my attention that there is a new MIDI triggered "Random" modulation source in Wavetable (it is in the MIDI section).
