How does this work ? I loaded a sample into a Wavetable40 component and analyzed it. The analyzer shows a count of 20 waves, but only 3 are actually created. Even if the wave count is set to 20 before loading the wav from disk, it will go back to 3 after analysis. Why is this so ?

With another wave, and although the analyzer is still showing a count of 20 waves, 20 waves were actually created, for some reason.

Now, editing one of them with Shape, Custom, Step and Smooth has no effect whatsoever. Is this the expected bahaviour ?

Is your wave count set all the way to 40? I noticed in the first picture you only have it set to 3.
I’ve been able get the smooth control to make really subtle adjustments to sample based WTs but nothing with custom, step or shape. Harmonics just change the wave completely. Not sure if it’s possible.

Also, an issue I had when first importing samples was not using the sliders on the left and right of the analyzer to cut out the silent parts. I kept getting a dozen flat line waves at the end of each WT... in case anyone has a similar issue..

That's because your audio is too short for that ;). It may not look like it, but imagine a sine, triangle and a square, one by one, analyzing it and asking for 20 waves - hardly, right? There's just 3 :)

There's just 3, although from a user point of view the Sample Analyzer clearly shows: number of waves : 20. So when the 'Analyse' button is clicked, the expectation is to get 20 waves, no ? There's the puzzle. It could be clearer if the Sample Analyzer would show no count at all perhaps ?

@tylerdedera: Thanks for the tip, I will keep on experimenting. And no, the initial wave count does not change anything to the result.

The other question, related to screenshot # 2, is: why aren't any of the modifiers working ?

Post

No :D, the audio itself is too short! It would need to repeat the same waves, which would be quite silly.
As for #2 - custom sample etc. don't work, since the "Custom sample" (using which the import is made) is add as the last one. Check the Advanced settings. In the newest version the custom sample ratio is also displayed on the main image.
