I'm still waiting in earnest for someone to tell me another synth that can do what Wiggle can. It doesn't even have to have FM, but the hypnotizing customized wiggle of a hand designed waveform and other wf manipulation.

Minihost doesn't work I've tried. Maschine does if yall have it.Razzia wrote: Sun Jun 02, 2019 12:12 am Just fyi for anyone thinking about getting wiggle
I bought it on sale a while ago. Its capable in its own way. However, since a certain version of ableton live (can't remember which anymore) you cant use its built in distortion unit unless you open wiggle in a vst host/wrapper. Bizarrely, its when the synth is idling but the distortion is turned on it shoots up to 50%+ cpu on my i7 6700k.
Nanohost ought to work though. Or IL minihost, or blue cats patchwork if you have it

In some sense Zebra2 comes close. Where you can draw 2 (or more) slices in the wavetable and modulate the wavetable travel. Not exactly the same, but it results in similar sounding wiggles for sure. I actually find Zebra2 more easy to work with to get those type of soundsjeffb01 wrote: Wed Jun 05, 2019 2:25 am I'm still waiting in earnest for someone to tell me another synth that can do what Wiggle can. I'm not sure if there are any other synths that does the Wiggle thing, it was the unique selling feature.jeffb01 wrote: Wed Jun 05, 2019 2:25 am I'm still waiting in earnest for someone to tell me another synth that can do what Wiggle can. Maybe have a look at Spiral Generator or cadmium if you haven't yet.
There's also the Sugar Bytes synths like Factory or Aparillo
Other fun FM synths like Nemesis or Aalto are also worth investigating.

The Lesson to be learned here, is to always keep a spare Offline activation - code, if possible.

I know, just tried to activate it. Maybe, if requested an offline - activation and kept that 'unused' as a spare for situations like this could have worked. Sad that even the Demo doesnt seem work properly anymore.

Not the same, nothing out there is, since the points are independent of each other. It's very CPU intensive to calculate the new oscillator shape without it completely aliasing and distorting.jeffb01 wrote: Wed Jun 05, 2019 2:25 am I'm still waiting in earnest for someone to tell me another synth that can do what Wiggle can. With that said, in spiritual form, Waverazor. It chops a cycle into up to 16 steps. Each step has its own shape, level, tuning, phase, velocity, keytrack, duty, and dc bias. You can think of it as each independent oscillator partially showing in a window 1/x the number of steps. It can sound as gnarly as Wiggle if not more, and it's great for continuously evolving sounds.
It's a modular synth where the main interface can be designed via the editor (full version not LE). So the editing is a lot more involved but incredibly deep. In fact, I highly suggest playing around with it to know what is possible, before realizing it helps to plan as much possible before diving in. There are plenty of templates though so you can dive right in.
This video shows the eurorack module version which is limited to 8 steps but it dives right in with sounds you can get out of it:

IMO miniraze is also worth getting even if you have waverazor. It was certainly a great deal a few weeks ago at $10. No doubt it will be on sale again, maybe a while for 90% off tho?

Yes abandoned. The developer now makes live music as tamiX (Nan Tang) and also known as founder of the Chinese website Midifan.
