We hope next year.Tom_Portman wrote: Fri Jun 07, 2019 5:06 am Hello ! After Hive is released can I hear any super estimated release date for zebra 3 ?
Month, 2, 3, next year .
Depends a bit on what's happening with operating systems and plug-in formats.
And also, as Hive was mentioned, I think we need to address hardware accelleration (or lack thereof) of some fo our UI parts. This can take a week if it's a quick fix, a quarter or two if it's "switching to an existing alternative" or up to a year if it's "we gotta rethink this, and also adjust all our UI designs". Therefore, a release year of Zebra3 depends on factors I can not fully factor in.

Sorry, things are getting convoluted throughout several threads, so let me quote myself from viewtopic.php?p=7421923#p7421923
I wrote: Fri Jun 07, 2019 4:50 amHehehe, as in: If all goes well, everything will be fine. But if, for instance, Apple decides to throw ARM processors at us, or, another example, if Steinberg decides to require some sort of certification process for VST3 which for whatever reason we fail - maybe just because we have presets with variable size - then there's no gurantee that we'll have enough time to spend on Z3. This is how it's been quite often throughout the past 8 years.I previously wrote:Depends a bit on what's happening with operating systems and plug-in formats.

Except for the Zebrify part, which shouldn't come with v.1 of Zebra3, IIRC (if it comes at all…).
Well, we'll have enough to play with Zebra3 even without Zebrify3, for sure
Zebrify is still one of my favorite sound manglers though, this semi-modular FX is pretty insane.

Wow disappointing to hear we won’t see Zebra 3 until next year, it just seems to keep getting pushed to the back of the queue.
We have seen the initial release of Hive plus an update to V.2 since we last saw a major update to Zebra
I appreciate Uhe need to keep the cash rolling in to stay afloat but it’s hard to contain the disappointment...

The trip from Hive 1.2 to Hive 2.0 cost us maybe three more months, if we factor out that big thing we had with NI, Superbooth and other unrelated things. I think that's bearable. Part of these three months were planning, testing and running an upgrade process. The Hive 2.0 release therefore was also a large field test to see how upgrading a product works for us. Plus, half of these three months were spent on modules that will seamlessly integrate with Zebra 3 (Scope, Function Generator, ModMatrix improvements). So I'd say we lost a few weeks on development but not as much as it may seem.RobGee wrote: Sat Jun 15, 2019 11:18 pm Wow disappointing to hear we won’t see Zebra 3 until next year, it just seems to keep getting pushed to the back of the queue.

(the by far bigger issue is UI speed... as people get larger displays with higher resolution, more CPU is spent on visualisation, while at the same time operating system manufacturers seem to push for proprietary solutions for hardware acceleration. If we have to adapt our UIs to such a proprietary solution you can easily add half a year of development time, if not more, for no benefit other than rolling back time to where we were five years ago, when screens had half as many pixels)

hey Urs
i have to thank you once more for Zebra! its so freaky awsome still!
I really think about selling my analogstuff... the only synth that can compete with Zebra is „eurorack“!
Iam so curious what you do to upgrade that striped Animal! Its allready a Beast!
what i would wish me... attached on a „+“ on the edge of any side, a Oscilloscope, a Spectralanalyzer and a loudnessmeter with Lufs, Rms and Peak! pushing on the „+“ the analyzers can be slide out and a additional „power on“ can power them on or off to save cpu! a „-„ would slide them back in and automatically power off the analyzers!
would be something like a gamechanger if implemend well thought! i have more as trust to you and your Crew so i make me no thoughts about thoughts!
wish a healthy life

There are many things coming to version 3, some from some of the newer synths. It will be a token charge for the update too. But it sounds to be at least 6 months or more off yet.

iam absolutly passioned to wait for Zebra3... it could take two or three more years!
Zebra2 is still in use! I Just wished that zebra2 eould exist for for download for Apple Ipad... just so i can tweak it in bed with headphones till i get tired!
ps: where do you know what is coming new from older and newer synths to zebra 3? is there any good reads or infos about it?

I've said it before, but it's a shame that the change from 2 to 3 is creating such huge expectations. I don't think anyone could deliver on them.
The main thing that interests me is how Zebra 3 will reflect bring in a post eurocrack world, that's saturated with all-singing all-dancing supersynths.

I'm drooling already just trying to imagine how Z2 would sound with all the sonic improvements made possible by all the knowledge Urs and co have gathered over the last few years.
Each and every new feature will be bonus. Fantastic bonus definitely but still, bonus.
