My first post here so I'd like to say Hi! to everyone.
I'm on a trial version of Tracktion 7 running on Windows 10. There is a periodic "wooshing" sound that appears every 20-30 seconds and lasts for a few seconds when the program is running and disappears when I close it. What is this caused by? Thanks for your help.

Isn't Tracktion 7 free ? So therefore there should be no trial version.
Anyway the 'whooshing' you refer to is white noise ( periodically used by a lot of demo audio software ) and if I remember correctly this is caused by either an unregistered native plugin or bundle plugin that has expired it's 30 day demo time, an example of this is say Biotek2 comes in the bundle download.

Yeah, the original trial version of 7 would have had this as a demo restriction, but its free now.
You might still have to authorise it through your Tracktion account though, to get rid of the restriction. If you've done that, then as mikoatkvr says, it could be a plugin.

I would expect the whooshing sound even on the free T7 until it's registered. Can't be certain, but getting rid of the whooshing sound on unregistered installations of T7 would have involved changing the code and I don't think they'll have had time to do that.
Jeff, click Help and About in T7 and make sure it's registered to you.

Register your version of T7, and any other Tracktion software plugs you're using in T7.
"my gosh it's a friggin hardware"
