Big new feature is the drum sampler. Please give it a try and post any feedback to this thread. Drum Sampler is a drum focused UI for multi sampler with a few new features (like choke groups and note repeat). It can be converted to a Multi Sampler via right click. Step Clips are also smart now and create channels for any pads in the Drum Sampler that have samples assigned.

Just installed the beta...

Drum sampler is awesome! Great layout, quick loop point editing and love the lines showing all the hits moving through the waveform. Midi learn got me triggering from my PCR-300 in like 30 seconds. This was one the few feature I was wishing for when I switched over to Waveform recently. You guys nailed it! (now if you just add a performance panel/view I can uninstall my other DAWs)
One question, why only 3 banks? Most Drum samplers (and respective pad hardware) have 4 banks. Not a big deal, just wondering.

As the person who made the forum post about the thumbnails not working... it's fixed as stated in the release notes.

Give a bit thanks to your team for their hard work on this release.

Mostly because the pad hardware I was developing with has 3 banks. I'll add a 4th.

The other question I had -- is anybody using a pad controller that isn't 4 x 4? Seems like that is by far the most common size.

Re Pad Config - what about 2x8 (ie Korg PadKontrol) as an option?

Also, is there a way to download and test the "beta" but have that as a separate install without affecting my currently stable 10.1.5? Have had issues in the past with betas, and don't usually bother until "final" - but this drum sampler has me intrigued.

I use the pads on the AKAI Mpk mini, which are 2 (vertical) by 4, because they're above a mini keyboard, but there's kind of a button to swap those to a second load of 2 x 4. So i guess that's still kind of 4 x 4?

Pad controller: I use either 2x8 (Arturia Beatstep) or 2x2+1 (Alesis Performance pad + pedal)

Add your midi clip to a track. Add a new step clip. Select the first section and then Import from MIDI clip. Your midi clip will be quantized to the step clip grid. This has been in Waveform for while.

On Mac I usually rename "Waveform 10.app" to "Waveform 10.1.5.app" before installing the beta.

On Windows I think you can install to a different folder.

You can always reinstall the older version.

Yep, I have that one too. If I were doing something more serious and wanted a pad setup for drums though, I also have a QuNeo and that is 4x4.

Not that I have them, but Novation has a few controllers out that have 2x8 built-in.
