Thanks for the listen and the feedback. I'll have another listen to the cymbals. I know I was flirting with that 5k and up range. I thought I had it under control but maybe not.Music Bird wrote: Fri Jun 21, 2019 11:32 pm @wagtunes
The sounds you made on Synth1 also aren’t that bad either from your demos. They could pass as a Nord Lead or JP-8000 easily.
I think the Autotune song is really quirky and funny, it reminds me of Thomas Dolby a lot. The crash cymbal during the guitar solo (is it a crash cymbal) is really loud and kind of overpowering the mix.

The high freq fuzz is probably the pad from Spectral. I really pushed it but was hoping I kept it out of the critical zone. Sounds fine to me but everybody has different tolerances.Bansaw wrote: Fri Jun 21, 2019 11:37 pm @1:34 whats the high freq fuzz there? Its lasts until 2:11.
Some really nice 70s style chord progressions, very interesting. Lots of great contrast. I love the arrangement. This is one of your really good ones, apart from the hf fuzz.
Anyway, thanks for the listen and the feedback.

:sigh: Thanks for the listen and the feedback.Benedict wrote: Fri Jun 21, 2019 11:29 pm Trying "Stained Glass Window": I'm thinking more Johnny Warman (Screaming Jets era) myself than Bowie, but I bet Warman liked Low etc. There could also be shades of similar vintage Bill Nelson with that sweet oddness.
I dipped into "Autotune", and what I assume to be what Vurt called the "police" material too.
Your songwriting is definitely solid. Have you looked into some sort of partnership, a sort of Taupin/John or Webb/Campbell sort of thing? I think that with the right partner/s you could definitely carve out a fanbase for yourself. The core is definitely there, just needs that extra layer of unexpected magic.
Listening to your Falcon sounds. Some of these could definitely pass as 80s hardware - off a Landscape record even. I am so tempted by Falcon as I love the one-synth-to-rule-em-all approach. I quite liked kHs Phase Plant (made a couple of vids) but CPU gets nasty when you get layered up and it is not as complete as I would hope for. I'd definitely try Falcon if there was a demo. But it would take a lot to lever me from Europa, Thor & Subtractor in Reason as I know them so well now.

I have been writing since 1977. During that time, I have collaborated with a number of people. None of the collaborations ever worked out. Ultimately, it came down to differences in style, goals, commitment, and way too many things to get into. In short, I just can't seem to find my Bernie Taupin. But then again, how many Bernie Taupins are there in the world.
These days, I'm content to write by myself and for myself. It's an enjoyable hobby and nothing more. Would I turn down a chance to make a dent in the industry? Of course not. But at my age, I don't even know where to begin anymore. I've asked people who "supposedly" have connections in the industry to listen to my stuff but they either don't have the time or, if they do, don't like it after hearing it.
Eventually, you realize some things are not meant to be. I know if given the chance I could make it as a songwriter. But getting a chance these days, without already having a massive following on social media, is unlikely to happen.
But thanks for the kind words.

It becomes a bad thing tho as we end up silo-ing ourselves in fear of more rejection. This takes our gifts & passions off the table. My Mother (bless her crazy soul) said that wasting a gift God gave us was a sin. Swap god for nature and I agree. Sometimes it is not the right time, we have something else to learn, but finding and trusting the right others (and self) is a core thing we should always be open to. I bet there is a singer (or someone) out there who is a great fit for you. And then when the magic is right, the fans will show. Maybe not billions but one by one they will arrive when there is something special for them...

For everybody else who isn't an asshole, I wasn't comparing myself to Elton John. I'd have to be born a thousand times over to have a tenth of his talent. I was simply replying to the comment made to me.
And that's all I'm gonna say on the subject.

Well, like I said, I'm not against the idea of working with another person. But nobody's actually knocking down my door begging to collaborate. And why should they? In the grand scheme of things, compared to the very talented people in this world, I'm pretty much a nobody.Benedict wrote: Sat Jun 22, 2019 12:31 amI so hate to hear this. What I don't do, however, is insult people the way some here constantly insult me, some of whom should probably think twice about it given where their life is currently at.
There are times I really do hate this place, but with my ever growing ignore list, I'll find peace here if I have to ignore half the forum. My days of fighting with others are over.
Anyway, thanks for the encouragement.

I'm offended that dipshit that pretends to be Karmically balanced took something I said straight out of context as an excuse to attack someone else, esp the very person I was in the process of being positive with. Jealousy wot! Not hearing anything that person has to say is no loss. I've had my share of those 'too scared to do anything but insult people who do' types too. They only represent themselves, even tho they pretend otherwise.
As for people, you might just be missing an implied offer from time to time

If you'd like to try to put something together I'm all for it. I am in the middle of my Police Tribute CD but after I'm done (estimated completion date July 31) if you like, I'll send you a PM and we can start brainstorming. I don't have any planned projects after this one is completed so I'm open to any and all ideas, even instrumental only tracks given I don't exactly have the greatest voice in the world.
No pressure. No expectations. And you can certainly say "no thanks." I won't be offended.
Anyway, I gotta go steam my sinuses. They're driving me crazy tonight.

I understand. Girls sad the same about me all the time.
('ceptin I don't never miss no cheese)
My guess is I'll want to be in the Producer's chair. I bet I can get a better performance out of you if you let me. I look forward to it.
