He forgot to use the "'" though...

One of the things that can sometimes annoy me about a synth, is when they have a distinct, inescapable character that is common to all the patches you create on that synth. The more chameleon-like a synth can be, the better I'll usually like it. "Character" can be cool sometimes, but not having a distinct, inescapable character in all the patches can also be a very good thing, especially if you want a lot of versatility from a synth.

Note: I might be using "character" in a slightly different way than you are.

Get a new pair of ears, pronto. :)

What you say is not a fact, it's a subjective opinion (that's also wrong).
Can it be wrong if it is subjective?

Sure. It all has its uses. Massive X is one of those synths, which can sound cold or warm, depending on what you program. Some synths can only be cold, unless you EQ, saturate, whatever the cr** out of it.

Use your ears all sounds the same every wavetable synth plugin nothing new or special. No deep or inspiration in the patches again and again the same thing.

I'm using my ears. And no they don't sound the same, and each has something special about it. Plenty of inspiration in MX patches there. Try harder. :)

If a statement is subjective, but presented as solid fact, then it's inherently flawed and at least partially wrong—if not totally wrong. So, yes. A subjective statement can indeed be "wrong".

I can't run it because of the AVX restriction. Native Access wouldn't even let me download it.

However it is now my go-to manual!

Even the words "right" and "wrong" are abstract concepts, so there is no logic in applying them to an argument and expecting to find any kind of resolution.

...I think my copy is broken.

There's an OSC and a Filter missing... :P

And, they should have named this Kolossal. 8)

Glad the demo became available today while there was still time to decide whether to finally get on the K12 train during the sale. Yep, MX did it...15 or 20 mins with the demo and I was ordering the K12U upgrade. Now I just have to wait a day or two for the package so I can get MX out of demo mode.

I'm finding the sound really compelling. Out of all the newer generation of wavetable scanning synths I've bought or demoed over the last few years, first impression is that I think I may end up liking MX's overall sound the best of the lot. Some of the patches do put me in mind of some of the more spacey, trippy sounds done for the OG Massive, but a more hi-fi version thereof. But then of course a lot of sounds are just unlike anything done (or even possible to do) with the OG.

At any rate, we're going to be venturing down this new rabbit hole for quite some time. I'm sure there will be dozens of soundsets released for this by the end of the year.

Well, initial impressions after playing with the demo for a bit are that I don't like the UI much but it sounds very good indeed. The UI gives me the same feeling of visual confusion I get with Harmor, lots of little controls everywhere without a quick intuitive at-a-glance feel for where everything is. No doubt that would diminish with time. Aesthetically it kind of reminds me of a control panel for medical technology that you'd find in a lab.

Sound wise I can't fault it at all, really nice sound quality. The filters and various fx are great, as is the routing. Love the harmonization tool. CPU is reasonable. The whole thing oozes quality. Could see myself getting lost in this for some time.

Irony? :P

If all the wavetable synths sound the same to you, then i ask myself if YOU are using your ears. Icarus and Massive X surely DON't sound the same, for example.
