It turns out I was wrong about the Pianoteq sale. I can't say much more than that about it, just keep an eye out for all the new July promotions.ChamomileShark wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2019 9:13 am @ Uncle E, thanks, I will be around then. I have Stage so I am looking for the upgrade to Standard.

I just wish they would have sales on the sounds. Pianos? Whatever they call them.Uncle E wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 1:59 amIt turns out I was wrong about the Pianoteq sale. For a while, there were a bunch of Pianoteq instrument packs at sale prices (like $35 or so) on Bestservice. Maybe they were left over licenses from previous sales or something, because they gradually disappeared. Still a few there a lower prices though:

Searching through the no-chat thread, it looks like the packs have gone on sale a few times. Maybe the next sale will be one of them?

ok thanks for that. I'll have a week when I probably can't make any purchases but hopefully the sales will last longer than that.Uncle E wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 1:59 amIt turns out I was wrong about the Pianoteq sale. Is there a common agreement of the "must have" Pianoteq instruments?
I mean absolute supreme ones in the whole collection, inside the following categories:
1. Conventional grand pianos and pianos
-which ones?
2. All others
-which ones?

ghettosynth,
Thank you for your input on the Native Instruments update licensing question. Very good input. Appreciate it.
Sorry it took me so long to reply.
I did get a second answer back from NI much quicker than the first. So it seems once they address your ticket (after two weeks!), the second reply is quicker at least.
He said again, "I would not recommend purchasing additional licenses as they will likely cause issues with your Komplete 12 Ultimate Collector's Edition."
So that settles that. Good to have it confirmed. Also interesting that such a tier 1 company as NI is leaving money on the table like this. Here they have a willing customer ready to give them another $300 for additional licenses and their Native Access app won't handle it...? Cheesy. Their loss.
Other companies. Don't be like NI on this point. NI step it up. You're losing money and looking like you don't know how to program robust software.
Now to figure out where to spend that $300 elsewhere...

Many will opt for the latest one, the C. Bechstein Digital, as it's based on Bechstein's own Digital Grand.Harry_HH wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 1:36 pm Is there a common agreement of the "must have" Pianoteq instruments?

But I also love its siblings, like the Steingraeber, the Steinways, and maybe above all, still the Blüthner.
Next, you'll find that the electric pianos are quite something too.
And do get at least Standard for the mic settings, maybe even Pro for individual note tweaking.

Thanks for the tips. Yes, I Standard was, what I considered.Fleer wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 2:14 pmMany will opt for the latest one, the C. In fact, I already own at least 14 great grand pianos and a couple of pianos, most of them sampled, but some of the modelled, too.
My motivation for the Pianoteq is versatility and variety of sounds.
Several specialities in the library, e.g. Hohner Pianolas.

Here's my Pianoteq armory, after some analysis: Pianoteq 6 Pro / C. Bechstein DG / Blüthner One / Steingraeber E-272 / Steinway B and D / Vintage Tines & Reeds (Electric Pianos) / Hohner Collection.
I'm a piano library man like you, and playing the (house-sampled) C. Bechstein Digital Grand as well as Pianoteq's C. Bechstein DG version of that same library is pretty unique.

I'll tell you, one of the reasons I bought Pianoteq was for the free instruments that come with it. They have some old grands that sound really great. There is also a "worn" slider that makes the piano more old sounding and out of tune as you slide it across. (it also starts looking old and damaged - it is kind of cool) They also have pianofortes and harpsichords.Harry_HH wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 1:36 pm Is there a common agreement of the "must have" Pianoteq instruments?

Other than that, I want the Gotrian and maybe the Steingraeber. I know a lot of people also like their harps, celests and vibes.
Just note there is a limited choice of instruments that come with the initial purchase. I thought I got to choose 2 of their instruments, but these are your choices: Steinway D + K2 grand pianos, or Electric pianos + Hohner Collection, or Vibes + Xylophone/Marimba. And you don't get to mix them. I would have liked the K2 and the Xylophone/Marimba, but not an option.
