Thanks for pointing this !

I agree.perpetual3 wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 2:27 pmI totally agree, yet sadowick was resoundly attacked for what seemed to be a reasonable although perhaps flawed analysis (I’m personally unqualified to make that assessment myself since I have never analyzed aliasing or nyquist anything in my life and frankly have no desire or intention to).JoeCat wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 2:08 pm Given that ED scripted some of my favorite Kontakt libraries (Hollow Sun - btw, what’s up with them since their founders untimely passing), and knows his shit in general I’m thankful for his input on the forum.
Not to be all Kumbaya (I hate that shit, and hated “Imagine” lol) but not getting all the personal attacks when we all share a common hobby/obsession.
There's no harmonics on sine wave if the filter is turned off. It seems all that "aliasing" just a filter overdrive behavior.chk071 wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 2:02 pm The sine wave in Massive X produces harmonics over the whole note range. Can't be aliasing, AFAIC. Maybe there's some on top of that, when you go up the frequency. As far as i understood it, every digital synth aliases.
... or more likely, the sine in the wavetable is not a perfect sine but has some overtones.Steve1974 wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 2:39 pmThere's no harmonics on sine wave if the filter is turned off. That looks like GPU or driver related issue.Teksonik wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 2:39 pm Trying to run the Demo but......

If you were objective you would regard the synth and not the person, making the person the subject of a supposed argument.Hardly objective and it shows ...
Also officially I don't work for NI in full capacity, I'm still a freelancer. But I do offer my services to NI since Dec 2018. I still do work for Impact Soundworks, In Session Audio, and some other Kontakt devs.jancivil wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 2:42 pmIf you were objective you would regard the synth and not the person, making the person the subject of a supposed argument.Hardly objective and it shows ...
'he works for NI' is made into 'he can't be objective' but that doesn't necessarily follow, this is called supposition.
I’m not sure that you are one of us here that made the personal attack, but since we all share the same hobby/passion (and I’ve said this before) I also don’t understand the personal attacks.chk071 wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 2:29 pmCheck his other vids. Interesting. Haven't tried that out, but, makes sense to me.Steve1974 wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 2:39 pmThere's no harmonics on sine wave if the filter is turned off. Thing is, he pretty much comes off as trying to bad mouth the developer. Why not just state his assumptions here, and, especially, let NI know about his observations? Instead he does a video with the title "Massive X aliases more than Massive (SCANDAL!!!)" (ok, i added the scandal, but, that's pretty much how it appears to meperpetual3 wrote: Fri Jun 28, 2019 2:51 pm I’m not sure that you are one of us here that made the personal attack, but since we all share the same hobby/passion (and I’ve said this before) I also don’t understand the personal attacks.

In this case, I think that, on the whole, the video was useful: if it turns out that MX does have aliasing (I haven’t read anything that conclusively rules it out) that’s useful. If it turns out that it doesn’t, and there is another explanation (again, nothing conclusive at this point) that’s useful too.
Yet, many if not most people immediately went on an offensive attacking the dude, justified by lots of speculation about what it could be. Alternatively, a respectful response could have acknowledged why sadowick might have been mistaken, and then helped him derive a process to prove it for himself. Instead he was viciously attacked; even mocked for having cancer. Frankly, I found that disgusting, having had family members die of the disease and seen firsthand the fear and helplessness the diagnosis caused the whole family to feel.
