I'm back with another video and this time I'll show how you can use the modal filter to create drum sounds. I used a taiko and a tom drum, but you can of course use anything as the raw material for your own drums. I tried to show some advanced things you can do, but I only scratched the surface. Check it out yourself and see what you come up with.

All the percussive stuff sounds really convincing! Also your video where you made sounds like hitting stones and glass and plastic tubes sounded very natural.

Yezz, nice new video, Chandler. Thanks for this. I used a similar technique already (thanks to some other video of yours as well!) and it really is great, indeed!

I don't know why you made the decisions that you did but the end results were great.
I bought this on offer as a placeholder as I will come back to it once it's finished and there are more presets and resources.
The physical modelling and MPE sold it to me with the other features planned also made it sound too good to pass up on.
I have a lot of other stuff to check out so may not come back to it until 2020.
I feel the same about Massive X which I will also leave until they finish it.
I get used to this with Windows 10 where I run a version that is 6 to 12 months old.

Thanks everyone. There are a lot of unique things in MSF, but one of my favorites is the modal filter. The ability to analze the harmonics of wav files gives it the ability to not only copy samples, but create new sounds. You can take a sample of a cymbal and make it sound like it was scraped, or take a xylophone and make it sound like it was dampened. The really surprising thing is how natural it can sound. I wish I had an MPE controller, so I could explore that side of things.

Keep dipping in and out of the synth while I work on other stuff, but thought I should drop in to say thanks for doing these vids and please keep them coming.
I worked through the example - with lots of pausing and rewinding! - and the screens looked a little different to mine. Maybe because there's been a recent app update or is there some different styling you have applied?

Your videos are very helpful for all of us but honestly it could be a turn off too imo ( for someone that is not familiar with Melda or MSF).
I think it would be better if you take your time to prepare a small arrangement ie. drums-bass and guitar or keys at 4 -8 bar loops then show people how you can manipulate the sounds into awesomeness. Pick up an example that most common like drum sound, guitar, keys or synth rather than chimes or taiko.
Other than that it's always very helpful

@ melda
A fundamental thing that is missing in the modal module is a variable damping decay per partial ( user definable) , this is really crucial
Since some harmonics dampen out faster then others , here's an example of my reaktor made ensemble

Sounds logical. But it will have to wait, too many stuff on the plate.
