I'm new to the forum and Tracktion, but i hope someone can help me out. (and i hope you understand my english, coz i ain't perfect!)
My question:
How do i fade in or out a string (or some other instrument...) in a midi clip?
If i mark the note(s) i can regulate the velocity of it, but i haven't figured out how i can increase the velcity on the same note.
Do i need a filter of some sort?
Any ideas?
Thanks!

The other thing you can do, if the VST instrument accepts the data, is apply an expression curve.
open the clip you want to edit, click on the 'dial on the edit strip select 'expression', then select the draw tool and go ahead and draw in some data as shown. The default 'expression value of any note is 100 - so values above that create a swell and values below will create a diminuendo.
If your MIDI filter doesn't accept expression you can also use volume - but expression also includes tonal characteristics (eg a string sound would have more high harmonics and be brighter at a higher expression value).
It's a lot simpler than it sounds - try it out and see.
