Trying out the demo now. Wondering if there is a traditional arpeggiator/step sequencer (preferably both) in Massive X? I dont mean drawing envelopes and then having them modulate parameters, but traditional arpeggiating options like rate, swing, octaves, direction, etc. and you play a chord and it arpeggiates the notes.

good point, I never looked at it from the lego's pov...what a terrible way to to go

No. It doesn't have a traditional arpeggiator or step sequencer, just extensive modulation capabilities. Those might have been nice little touches, but I can easily program those in my VST host.Coda4 wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2019 4:55 pm Trying out the demo now. Maybe Sado is a ghost employee from NI to spread the word XDchk071 wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2019 4:54 pmLol... just wanted to post the link, and now i see that he deleted the videos, and instead uploaded some videos explaining Massive X's components.Urs wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2019 4:49 pm Hmmm, what video shows the aliasing issue?
I suspect that maybe the effect of harmonic distortion of detuned oscillators was confused for aliasing. Harmonic distortion of two or more oscillators can create harmonics below each oscillator's fundamental frequency.

Really a shame. Would have liked to know what you think about it, as my knowledge about aliasing is really limited.
Maybe the videos are still available, somewhere in the deep butthole of the internet.
Edit: Just saw ghettosynth posted the link.

I never suggested any such thing, you never step on legos you have strewn all over the floor, it's the one you miss you find with your footvurt wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2019 5:00 pmi was talking more about thinking id have lego bricks all over the floor

Here's a quick rundown on the saga:Urs wrote: Mon Jul 01, 2019 4:49 pm Hmmm, what video shows the aliasing issue?

The video that started it:
The followup:
After this followup it was pointed out to him that hs is listening directly to LFO's without antialiasing measures; a CPU-saving decision very likely and that the filter produces aliasing. He made a quick demonstration somewhere about how supposedly this stuff matters by using FabFilter Saturn and driving it up and noticing peaks there (and then it was pointed out to him that it's because he isn't running Saturn on HQ mode... yeah)
There's more to this saga too, but this is it with the aliasing. Both of those videos are hidden now. I thought he maybe learned his lesson but... here he is explaining how to use an exciter envelope and this is a worthy video to see how features in synths are being evaluated by people who don't know their intended purpose:
"Don't think about it as an envelope, think of it as an LFO"..... and he also can't see the F0 (or maybe figure out what it means? He does think it means "zero crossing") there so he decides to analyze what those parameters do with an oscilloscope instead of a spectogram and notices that they don't translate directly to the oscilloscope. I'll admit, the exciter envelope parameters aren't really too clear and it doesn't help to show them like that next to normal envelopes, but I can't figure how to make the concept of an exciter easy to understand unless they integrated it with the comb filter directly.
There's a fourth video as well with a complaint about how there's no release curve that is separate from the decay curve in the mod envelopes, but it seems he changed the description of that video after I pointed out and insisted that he isn't correct when he implies that these cannot be controlled independently - with a note off event, they can and I tested that it works. Sadly though no edits or annotations as far as I can see that would make the audience aware that there is a way to control the stages independently with a T-modulator.
