Hi all,

I'm interested to compare our tastes about some "minor" bands, if you are too please help me to fill this list, rules are like this:

choose the best song in your opinion for one "minor" band (pop rock) from '50 to '90 or more, "minor" at your choice, it could be bands which you like one song only from them, but of course Beatles, Stones, Floyd, Purple, etc... are not "minor".

ok I start with few.
please feel free to comment,

ABC: Tears are not enough
OMD: Telegraph
Gilbert O'Sullivan: Alone Again
Jennifer Lopez: Come Over
The Attractions : Watching the detectives

Off the top of my head, bands who have exactly 1 song that I like. The rest of their stuff may leave me indifferent or actively annoy me, but there tracks rule.

Hey Now Now by Swirl 360
Grant Hart by The Posies
Hurricane by The Warm Jets
Somebody To Shove by Soul Asylum
Rainking - Counting Crows
Bloodletting by Concrete Blonde
Shake Hands With Beef by Primus
Half man Half Wrecking Ball by The Umajets
Candybar Express by Love And Money
In From The Outside by Cinderella
C'mon C'mon by The Von Bondies
Red House by Shudder To Think
The Middle by Jimmy Eat World
Drunken Lullabyes by Flogging Molly
Timebomb by Rancid
Much Against Everybody's Advice by Soulwax
Solomon Bites The Worm by The Bluetones
In A Room by Dodgy
Bug Dust Powder by Bomb The Bass
Steve.
I know I have got a negative edge, that’s why I sharpen all the others a lot.

:D I get that all the time! But at least I can make compilation CDs for party's and long car journeys etc and people will get a dose of something they never heard before 8)

This is also possible, sometimes I get "I love this one! Who is it???"

Hey

This is kinda similar to the insanely great unknown artists thread.

Anyway, songs by cool "small" bands that are ace:

Nanzen Kills A Cat - The Van Pelt
Little League - Cap'n Jazz
Lets Make Winter A Driving Song - Cerberus Shoal
Toothfairy Retribution Manifesto - Rodan
Sharks & Sailors - June of '44

Check 'em out :D

I think 90% or more of the music I like would probably fall into this category, not because I only like one song but because you would never have heard most of it. In fact I can't really think of any artist that I only like one song of. Maybe its because I listen to albums so a good individual song won't necessarily register. Usually the elements of a good song will pervade teh artists other owrk to a greater or lesser extent, its just a matter of giving it a good enough chance.

Hmmmm there are probably quite a few from the 80s:

Ultravox - Vienna
Stranglers - Golden Brown
Moving Pictures - What about me? (f**k off Shannon)
Anything by Machinations. :D (refuse to name only one)
Little Heros - One Perfect Day
Bruce Hornsby & The Range - The Way it is
Wendy Matthews - The Day you went away
The Church - Unguarded Moment

Probably a heap more if I thought about it for longer.
