07.07.2019 - the day when hot topic about MX died [*] Still on page 49 after so many hours - patient is definitely dead  334 pages counting previous main topic about MX - it was a nice and entertaining journey.
I'm worried that now most posts may be on topic :o

Ps. MX and Psytrance are a good friends. Even very fast sub genres. MX can easily produce short and snappy basslines without much of tweaking.

We're waiting on revision 1.02, the 1.01 update was disappointing.

let's see if I can make this fairly simple...that other thread had plenty of good moments, it went for a long time, but at the same time there were quite a few reports and complaints. Also you will see often enough in the thread where people asked why it was allowed to continue. At the point where there were a couple of reports in a row I then decided I had to follow it because of trying to stay on top of it. (If dont follow it and step in the same few people will be everywhere saying how we are not doing our jobs, it's the wild west, you know how kvr is, nothing is done without reports yada yada. Fair enough right? That's my job, I have no qualms with that at all, I follow many threads.)

Now others say we need a thread like that once in a while. Of course we have OT, HPC, and Everything Else for nonsense topics and yes I follow many threads there of course as well.

The original Massive thread as we all know was going like gang busters, most of it was all nonsense and I subscribed to it and many other threads. Is a picture becoming clear yet? There are days I get 200 notifications a day but this was more like 30-40 and hour. People, when I can, I drop what I am doing when I get notifications, most of the time it's nothing of concern but when it's in a thread that has had a lot of concern and there is an issue there are those who if we are not on it in seconds are quick to attack us and it starts to seriously interfere with my life.

I'm sorry a bunch of you got butt hurt because I locked a nonsense thread that was off topic for way too long, I'm sorry you wanted to run it up to a whole lot of posts about nothing and I took that away from you so that my phone might actually shut up for a minute. I'm sorry we provide plenty of opportunities and places for nonsense threads and some people cannot just simply stay on topic.

For the record, I really do care about this place, I put in many hours here doing this and it's a privilege to do so and to have the honor to know all of you. But I think all the mods and especially Ben deserve more credit for how time is put into this place and if a nonsense thread is locked, like the rules said it is for a good reason and once again we surely give members a lot of places to get crazy, silly and have fun because we all know I like to get silly and have fun with the best...it would be nice if the members could show enough respect to simply keep the nonsense where it belongs if for no other reason than because some members might actually want to talk about the software or topic.
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

some of the fun stuff is... fun. and if you took away all the ranting, whining, the personal attacks (and, i'm in on some of that too) this would be a great thread, as would any thread on the forum.

will endeavor to focus on the subject at hand, and (try to) rein in some of my, uh baser instincts. maybe others would do the same?....

Agreed.

My claws come out when I see [edit: what I consider] too much whining; I will do my best to restrain that impulse. :D

Have to remember that's the mods' job. No complaints about them from me.

I wouldn't be too worried yet. Along with all the normal distractions of summer and fair weather, users in the USA are still recovering from their Independence Day celebrations. Technically that was July 4th, but in practice, it affects at least a full week of our productivity. Rather than being dead, the "entertaining journey" is just on holiday.

Nothing is perfect. People have the freedom to constructively criticize MX, which despite a phenomenal sound is far from perfect. Critique isn’t whining.

I’ve asked a bunch of questions which simply remain unacknowledged. No problem, but the discourse seems dominated by frivolity and an irrational defense of the synth despite its flaws.

I’m much more interested to here and see what all y’all are doing with the synth, issues you’ve encountered and workarounds.

and another 'baiting' post. critique isn't whining, true; whining is whining.. and there's lots of that on this thread.

defending MX isn't (necessarily) 'irrational'; i like this thing, like it's sound, and hope to see flaws addressed over later iterations. how rational is that?

Please. I did not bait you. I did not say that defending is irrational. I said that the discourse is dominated by irrational defense, in the sense of a response to a legitimate critique.
