Both, if a given patch needs an easy screen, I'll make one. I won't bother with MPE just yet though and I won't follow any of the rules announced by Melda, that's far too restricting.

Cool. Look forward to it.Sampleconstruct wrote: Mon Jul 08, 2019 6:45 pmBoth, if a given patch needs an easy screen, I'll make one. I won't bother with MPE just yet though and I won't follow any of the rules announced by Melda, that's far too restricting.
The rules are only there for factory content anyway, not for 3rd party stuff.
I'm sure you will agree MSF is already great for sound designers and we still have stuff on the way like spectral and granular synthesis. Nice to hear you will make the library sample free.

I'll be as fascinated to see your easy screens, no matter how simple, as to hear and use your presets, Simon, both because your MP choices will be interesting AND because I much prefer to use Device Presets compared to GPresets, mainly because they are faster to load, but also because I really enjoy exploring MSF through the filter of a limited control set, exactly what Devices provide.
Exploring a designer's sounds sheds one sort of light.
Exploring the way they chose to re-configure the synth (or other device) interface itself sheds another sort altogether, an option that's a large part of my fascination with MSF (and all the other Melda plugins with easy screen potential).
Thank you for making the effort to take advantage of this feature (which it seems to me Melda provides in a uniquely powerful way), and to share your thinking about MSF in this additional way, as you also do with your Falcon and Halion sets.

Yes, no samples is a good challenge, the analysis function in the additive osc and the modal filter is good so it's a different route of capturing natural, acoustic, organic sounding timbres. The resynthesis in the wavetable osc is not happening yet thoughjmg8 wrote: Mon Jul 08, 2019 6:56 pmCool. You really should look into the AMD ryzen and Radeon series support...
They are taking over..

Regarding the Lush pad above - which is very nice as it is - do you think it's possible to inject more warmth into the sound ? Is MSF capable of that ? The notion of 'warmth' might be subjective although I'd refer to Diva and Repro-5.

The perceived "coldness" comes from using a resonator excited by a noise generator which is then processed in numerous ways and later mixed with a synth osc. I like these kind of modeled sounds and don't consider them to sound cold, the entire warm-cold debate is so subjective anyway. Adding more low mids and saturation in this case breaks the sound and it becomes ugly.mevla wrote: Tue Jul 09, 2019 3:33 pm Regarding the Lush pad above - which is very nice as it is - do you think it's possible to inject more warmth into the sound ? I agree for this sound, but in general, do you think that MSF can do "warm" sounds ? Are its filters able to yield such capability ? (Still referring to Diva and Repro-5) or shall it be considered, in tone, as a purely digital synth and used as such ?

Sure it can do warm sounds, our definition of warm may differ though, for me cutting high frequencies, enhancing lower mids, adding saturation to create some even harmonics and adding subtle detuning and pitch drifting results in warm sounds. But why compete with Diva anyway...mevla wrote: Tue Jul 09, 2019 5:54 pm I agree for this sound, but in general, do you think that MSF can do "warm" sounds ?
