It's the sound, baby

I've been using u-he synths for some years now. I became accustomed to their (great) sound and was seemingly taking this for granted.
Last week though, a great video demo from someone made me buy a virtual synth from another company (I won't reveal it, since I don't want this to be an invitation for a pissing contest), but after playing with it for a while, I seriously regret buying this. Soundwise it's in another league than the u-he products. And although it has a great UI with lots of colorful moving lines, the sound is somewhat dull.
I'm going to uninstall it. Lesson learned. Urs and team: Please continue doing what you're doing!
Thanks.

There's a better lesson to be learned: Don't see only black and white, and learn to appreciate different characters of sound, and choose which tools is best suited for the task.
Of course, if the u-he synths aren't for you, sound wise, there's no further discussion needed. I must admit that most aren't my cup of tea as well. But, nonetheless, they're up with the top soft synths, no doubt. It's just that u-he and crew seem to have a slightly different taste than i have.

What does it matter what "it" refers to, if he likes u-he better than "it"

Sorry' if it came across ambiguous. It was meant to be a praise of the u-he sound quality.
There‘s a point though in keeping the synth from the other company (which seriously disapponted me) though, perhaps it‘s useful when layering.

Read the post again. Makes no sense at all...
... or... i just didn't understand it. Maybe he meant with "sound wise in another league", that it's eighth division, instead of champions league.

I had it this way with a 1200€ Hardware Synth. I will sell it again. Because the U-HE stuff really sounds better. And I'm very enthusiastic that I can work with Linux. Thanks U-HE.

I agree with the OP.
I buy a lot of synths and end up mostly using u-he synths (and a handful of others) in most of my productions.
Many others have more bells and whistles but for me in the end its what it sounds like (assuming it isn't crashing every few minutes) that matters the most and indeed none (except the few other synths I use from others (omnisphere, superior drummer 3, kontakt and maschine 2)) are like u-he for me too.

Urs definitely has the edge over many other companies as far as quality of sound goes. I only own synths from a small handful of companies, but have demoed from quite a few - some of them are sold on nothing but fancy UIs, and very disappointing when it comes to sound.
Keep up the good work Urs.
