Posted this in the "no chat" thread, Roland Cloud - 15% off plans

I'm thinking I've seen a similar sale not long ago - maybe they are struggling to get people to sign up? It says discounts are applied after the plan goes in the basket - but I think the UK price at least is cheaper than it was? I thought it was nearly £20?

Not sure, but just adding in case anyone's interested this deal runs until August 8th. Will probably hit the 2 year plan after my next payday, looks a decent discount and will get me to three 'owned' synths if I bale out then which is enough to cover the cloud synths I use the most.ChamomileShark wrote: Sun Jul 14, 2019 10:19 am Posted this in the "no chat" thread, Roland Cloud - 15% off plans

I note though they still have that ludicrous issue where you can't change your email address. I had to do that and after writing to them ended up with a trial account with a long expiry date that took me up to the end of the year I'd paid for. It just seems daft in 2019 there are web based services that can't handle a change of email address. Especially ones that offer a 5 year subscription extension.

What are you all's opinions about V-Metal? I've heard is amazing sample-wise, but so difficult to use that it's rarely the first choice in people's minds.

How about UVI UVX670? Last day of the intro sale tomorrow, 49 EUR instead of 79 EUR? The audio clips sound gorgeous (to my ears). Anyone tried it?

As the Legacy Rewards program seems to have disappeared, there is literally no incentive for me to consider this at all. Pure subscriptions with no perpetual license option isn't just a music software issue, it's a digital rights issue. I imagine there are a lot of people thinking along similar lines.ChamomileShark wrote: Sun Jul 14, 2019 10:19 am Posted this in the "no chat" thread, Roland Cloud - 15% off plans

I agree, that trailer sounds awesome. The VX600 and AX73 are a good range of synths to sample, the real things sound quite different from one another.pekadan wrote: Sun Jul 14, 2019 10:50 pm How about UVI UVX670? On one hand, it makes me think of all the songs I lost, back before the days of quality virtual instruments, because of no longer having the hardware instruments they were made with. On the other hand, we all ought to be bouncing stems of everything, anyway, just because it's now so easy and there are so many other things that can go wrong.yellowmix wrote: Mon Jul 15, 2019 2:47 am As the Legacy Rewards program seems to have disappeared, there is literally no incentive for me to consider this at all. Sorry if I misunderstood, but is this a definite thing that Roland have changed the terms of their subs now and no longer offer a 'reward' vst each year? If that's the case I'll not be renewing. Can someone confirm one way or the other?Uncle E wrote: Mon Jul 15, 2019 5:38 amOn one hand, it makes me think of all the songs I lost, back before the days of quality virtual instruments, because of no longer having the hardware instruments they were made with. Don't want to derail the thread on this, but it's pretty important knowledge to anyone looking to renew their subscription in this current deal.
I have also sent Roland an email, but have no idea how quickly they respond to these things.

Personally I would only go for a subscription model if I got, say, equivalent credit to spend on things to own. Or 50% credit or whatever. So if I subscribe for a year and pay $200, I got $200 or $100 or whatever to spend on plugins to keep. I’m not expecting any company to do this, there’s no entitlement here, it’s just a wish. If they did, they have my attention.
I did Slate subscription for a year because of a crazy cheap sale. I wasn’t keen on the hollow feeling after the subscription ended, the price went up and I was left with nothing that I owned. Going back into my sessions and seeing those plugins disabled was a pain, I ended up replacing them with stuff I owned and it was all the same(ish), so why bother?
I enjoyed having access to all those plugins but unless there was a way for me to keep something tangible after the subscription ended I wouldn’t do a subscription again.
