I am still using the Mulabs Demo and noticed that when dragging Audio Files onto the timeline, sometimes the Stream Audio Option is available and sometimes it's not. Doesn't really matter if it's a long file or a short one. Seems like a bug.

It depends on the track target module: For example: If you drop an audio file on a track that targets a synth (rack) then that does not make makes sense as a synth has no audio input.

PS: Most synths don't have an audio input; if it does have an audio input, then you can drop the audio file.

Also note that compressed formats (mp3, ogg) are only available as samples whereas wave files can be streamed directly in the arranger.

Ah :) That explains it. I was trying to do a edit/remix of a song and wanted to import the mp3 onto the timeline as a stream, to then convert it to a audio sample so it's not split up in a lot chunks from the get go and I can still move the sample start of the whole file to the first beat, to align it to the grid.

side note: would be cool if it was possible to import audio files without having them split up and analyzed automatically (drag + a key command maybe?)

You can control whether audio is sliced using the "Auto Create Transient Markers" preference.
Also see the related "Auto Snap New Audio Sequence Length" preference.
