Linux: Problem with u-he synths and Bitwig 3.0 ?

I know, this is not in the Linux section. There's the start of a thread about this in the Linux section although with no official replies so far.

I want to get Bitwig 3.0 but, if there's a major problem with all u-he synths, such as not being able to move dials, I will not get Bitwig 3.0 and continue with 2.4.3 for now. It's not easy - if possible - to install parallel versions of Bitwig which means that an upgrade will get rid of the previous version. Major step.

Anyone can confirm the (non-) existence of the problem ?

Cheers.

I just installed Bitiwg 3.0 on Ubuntu Studio 17.04.
Installed Diva rev. 8256, and both the VST2 and the VST3 work fine, I can move all controls, don't see any problems here.

So the issue might be tied to a very specific Linux version, or some specific settings in his Linux, or an installation issue, or ...

Don't have enough Linux experience to pinpoint it any further.
All I can say is, it's running fine over here with Bitwig 3.

Thanks. It nevertheless looks like there's a problem with running Bazille in Bitwig 3.0, so I have to wait before upgrading to Bitwig.

Moving knobs (dials) works for me with the prior to latest builds of U-he stuff. Bazille, however, crashes. Now, I haven't upgraded yet to the latest builds. Although I will, likely this weekend; I'll report further then.

That said, I have been experiencing an issue with BWS 3 and U-he windows NOT closing. For example, if I use the X button (close window) atop the window frame, I must press the button a couple times (2+) to invoke the action. However, if I use the built-in BWS 'raise/lower plugin window' button, the window appears and disappears properly.

It could be in this instance that BWS upon Linux--X11 in my case, which has it's own issues here, though necessary for Nvidia and KDE--is the culprit, but it is only U-he stuff that exhibits this behavior. Frankly, I wasn't going to mention the issue here as I didn't understand it well enough and it very well could be my environment which has a bunch of extra stuff going on. Moreover, it could be entirely a Linux+X11 thing. Hard to say, as I haven't done any good testing yet.

I have Bitwig 3.0 on Debian and not experiencing any problems. Only the Modwheel in some presets seems to have some kind of strange behavior and the state of it is not gonna saved (Hive).
Bazille i have not tested so far. But I can do this late today.
I have also the problem that closing the windows are very slow sometimes. You have to use the minimize button as mentioned above.

Please also include with any comments on this topic which distro you are using and its version, and which window/desktop manager is used.

Cheers.

Well, I upgraded to the latest builds of Bazille, Diva, Hive and ACE. All exhibit the same behavior as stated above: Bazille crashes, and the others don't respond properly to the (x) close button.

Here is what xev outputs during the first three (x) clicks, about two messages per click:

Code: Select all

Upon the third click, the window is finally destroyed.
Thoughts?
