I've got a question on the best way to implement a scenario in which one of several tone generator modules are in parallel, but all but one are bypassed. I.e., there is at most one generating sound at any one time. So, here's my solution below. The question is this: a mixer would be simpler in terms of number of modules, but it would never be doing any actual mixing and the levels for all inputs would always be left at 0 dB. So is the pictured solution better, the mixer solution better, or does it matter in the end, as far as optimal performance?

You could use a Multiparameter and the Banks mode. As an example, here's a 4-way switch.

Neat! Presumably that example would work equally well with the [WTs] arranged in series, right?

Yes, the MP in banks mode is an obvious selection device, but my question was just about merging the signals, not how to manage the bypass states. However, how could the tone generator modules be anything but in parallel? You cannot put them in series (i.e., stack them vertically). So parallel (side-by-side in the grid) is the only way to do it, as far as I can see.

You can surely put them in series. Just put then one after the other, only one will be enabled at any one time, so the others will just sort of move out of the way of the signal flow.

Hmmm ... I tried that and it didn't work. However, I used Bypass rather than unchecking Enabled.
