Hey,

I just started using MBandPass and I love it so far. I wanted to ask, how can I set it up in order to move a bandpassfilter with one control?
I'd like to set the high pass and low pass cutoffs indipendently and then move them up or down with a multiparameter while keeping their relation.

Example: I set HP to 100Hz and LP to 300Hz and after moving the multiparameter a bit to the right I have them at 500Hz and 700Hz. I decide that it sounds too narrow so I change them to 400Hz and 800Hz and move the multiparameter to the left and have 200Hz and 600Hz.

Right now I can only link them in a way that when moving the multiparameter it resets them to the same cutoff frequency without keeping the "width" of the filter intact.

Let's get something cleared up first. You say that going from range 100-300 Hz and moving that to, say, 500-700 Hz preserves the relation. It may or may not, depending upon what you're trying to accomplish.

200-400 Hz is one octave
400-600 Hz is one fifth
800-1000 Hz is one major third

So, are you trying to preserve the numerical difference in frequencies or the musical frequency range? Most applications would want the latter.

Might well be the latter. I’d just like to be able to sweep through the spectrum of a sound by moving a fader linked to some kind of “bandpass filter cutoff”. I’d create the bandpass by isolating a band of frequencies with the 2 filters and and to do what I want I guess I’d somehow have to move both cutoffs the same time. And if I think the isolated band is to narrow or wide I should be able to set the 2 frequencies differently and the fader should keep moving the whole band accordingly, without resetting to the first proportion. Hope this explaination is somewhat comprehensive.

Just use the Band Pass Filter in the Eq and set the Q where you want it. Then you can sweep it with one knob.

It is a bit difficult to explain but sometimes I do not just want 1 Frequency pronounced and the other frequencies gradually falling off around the cutoff but a whole band of frequencies that remain unaltered. At a certain point below the center frequency the highpass should kick in and at an other point above the center frequency the lowpass. I like to mess with both frequencies until I find the right "bandwidth" aswell as slope (which often might be also pretty steep) for both filters and what I would have liked is being able to sweep that range of frequencies up and down with one controller/automation as if I was moving the cutoff of a bandpass filter.
I though that was somehow possible with MBandPass and the multiparameters but seems like it isn't. I guess I will just keep controlling HP and LP frequencies indipendently.

Try this:

MP1. Attached to HP frequency and LP frequency.
Set the HP value at 20hz and max value at 2,000hz.
Set the LP value at 200hz and the max value at 20,000hz. This will give you a really nice sounding and useable starting point.
Now for the tricky bit.....
MP2. Assign this to control the following 2 parameters:
MP1 - parameter 1 - max value. Set its value at 632.5hz and its max value at 6325hz.
MP1 - parameter 2 - value. Set the value at 63.25hz and max value at 632.5hz.
Now name this MP2 something like "Bandwidth"

Thank you! I tried it and it sounds like a pretty usable range for most applications, probably will not always fit but still might save a lot of time. Btw had to inverse one of the two parameters in MP2 to make it work like a bandwidth control.

I was thinking along the same lines as jmg8. You could always try different ranges, or save a few presets each with a different range.

To save presets with different ranges is a good idea! Would save me time to not have to mess with multiparameters each time I need a different range.
