What are you people's favorite expansions? I guess I'm not the only one who's bought the 5-pack and is a little unsure of what to choose, so it would be nice to hear some opinions. "Atmospherica" sounds amazing but how is the playability of the presets? Are they easy to fit in to a song or does many of the the sounds come with their own "melodies"?

I didn't have to pay VAT on my order. Maybe because I am in Canada?Puddi wrote: Sun Jul 28, 2019 12:49 am What are you people's favorite expansions? Hi Mikelo,Mikelo wrote: Sun Jul 28, 2019 12:32 amYes , totally agree. Looks like I will have to upgrade to 10 soon. Was going to purchase a new high end i9 system but due to pay loss at work, that idea was scraped (for now), family came first.Bansaw wrote: Sun Jul 28, 2019 12:20 amSad to see you miss out. You'll have to move from Win7 sooner or later because Microsoft are going to stop supporting it 6 months time. ...I don't know if Avenger will be as low as -50% on Black Friday or not. We'll see.Mikelo wrote: Sun Jul 28, 2019 12:14 am Thanks again Bansaw;-)
I've already checked my Nvidia graphics and it's up to date.
I've emailed support to see if they can help.
I really wanted to buy this synth. I've no problems with my other heavy weight synths like Serum and Massive etc.
Just wasn't expecting this.
Seriously gutted.
Vengeance website does say Windows 7 in spec requirements but I guess its a lottery with this ageing OS.
I downloaded the demo, and am running it in 32-bit Reaper (v4 Reaper is bridging it) on a several year old quad core i5 with an older mid-level GPU and 8GB RAM Windows 7, and the demo is playing just fine (and CPU use is very acceptable).
So, perhaps try different install options.
Regards,
rj0

After a day of tinkering, I've uploaded the Synthwave track I made yesterday using Avenger to the Music Cafe. Rather than post it again here, I'll just drop a link to the thread.

Everything is Avenger with the exception of the hats, claps and toms.

Atmospherica delivered everything I would expect. You have control over everything, and the macros are useful. There are melodies baked into some of the samples, but it's easy to mute those layers or adjust the grain settings so that it's more atonal. I listen to a lot of drone music, and these are very well done.Puddi wrote: Sun Jul 28, 2019 12:49 am What are you people's favorite expansions? For other expansions, Cinematic 1 & 2 are nice because they have a lot of variety and detail in the patches, making for great learning material. Cinematic 2 in particular has a ton going on.
Doomstep is pure fun, and you have full control over the guitar lines. The drums here work well for other styles too.
For the more EDM based packs, it depends what you need. I have Trance Invasion, Trance Two, and EDM 2. They all have their uses and sound representative, but Trance Two has the most creative macros and depth.
I noticed that there aren't many words online about the expansion packs. I'd agree that these are more content rich than a lot of other synth packs, and more educational too. Overall, the base version of Avenger is fully capable, and the packs help show you what you can achieve.

Totally agree , Atmospherica is just a tremendous expansion. Very very impressive and i've seen a lot. Cinematic 1 and 2 were my second and third slots. Then i took Trance Two and Trance Invasion.mgelon wrote: Sun Jul 28, 2019 8:41 pmAtmospherica delivered everything I would expect. You have control over everything, and the macros are useful. Then i bought another pack and now i'm waiting... I've seen by looking at the walkthroughs on YT that a cinematic 3 is coming and logically an Atmospherica 2 should follow so all in good times to those who wait.
I'm hoping for a Futurepop oriented one... VNV Nation and Frozen Plasma style...

Friends, I am not trying to pressure you or be an advertisement, but I would strongly recommend getting the 5 pack at Sweetwater (even get 2 or 3 sets if your budget allows). There are two reasons:
1) I have never seen any Avenger/Vengeance sale greater than 20%, so this 50% off is probably not going to happen again anytime soon.
2) 5 expansions for $140 equates to $28 per expansion! This is a great price for any expansion for most synths. Also for future perspective: let's say you like 2 expansions that come out in a couple months or years. You really want them but they are $70 each (possibly more if they increase expansion features and price). That's $140 for 2 expansions. Well, right now you can get 5 expansions for the same price as 2 regularly priced expansions. Even if you wait for the occasional 20% off sale, that's still going to be pricey at $56 each expansion (or $112 for two). Also, you can save these expansion credits in your Avenger account for future use without expiration according to Manuel.
