i ben thin,k about this much, becaue "its" widespread.
you know, so many persons with commercial aspirations that won't be filled. ah. there should be some kind of service, an opportunity. instead of being hired to make music, you pay someone to make music for them, their service is to provide specification and discretion.
i can remember when asked to make music for a tomato greenhouse webpage. wow. it would be worth a couple bucks to have someone send me an assignment, then maybe pretend to listen, ask a few things to be fixed. try your best, waterbeds in 30 seconds, that kind of stuf. like a music agent prostitute who gives you the feel of being commercially desirable via a few obligatory variables. like a dominatrix for wannabe songwriters.
no really but also, there are people who are *doing things* to put all of these aggravated production ambitions to some positive use (steven).
find people who want music, for some reason, and give it to them.
it will make you feel teh fcuk 100x bigger than getting paid.
like this youtube channel for animators:
they make videos for people to help them.
concept.
there's the thingy mister, you can always look in the world and find problems and see how you can rid them. aamof, someone once said exactly this about why music is a miserable life. that's what i do, i solve problems. you, you want to be teh shinny bauble on some farty cak.
wtf 61

You know man, you make a lot of sense. Honestly, my greatest feeling was having my anthems done in church. And I didn't make a penny from them. In fact, one of them was performed by the OES Choir in front of hundreds of people a couple of years ago.xoxos wrote: Sun Aug 04, 2019 12:59 am i ben thin,k about this much, becaue "its" widespread.

Like I said earlier, I'm chasing a 42 year old dream that I'm not even sure I care about anymore.
If I get into production music and actually make some money and then find out that I'm not really any happier, then I'll know that the dream really is dead.
Right now, I'm not 100% sure.

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Hey, don't look at me. I've been relatively civil to the guy considering he basically called my music total crap.
It's all cool as far as I'm concerned. We're all entitled to our opinions.

Whatever word you want to use. Several of the same names as always talking shit and piling on. It doesn't really bother me... it's typical KVR...
I had a point. I stated my point... over and over... and that's it.
The guy's music isn't anywhere near the quality it should be to give him the right to publicly cry in his milk.
I mean, at one point in the 1980s Tom f**king Verlaine was living in poverty in NYC selling his record collection in order to eat. And I am sorry for all the morons that don't realize it [yeah I will be harsh again] but Marquee Moon is one of the greatest and most influential albums ever made. Now that's a crime... that guy suffered and did not deserve to.

There have been a lot of very talented people throughout the years who didn't get the recognition they deserve. I have no illusions about this business. Just because you're talented doesn't mean you're going to make it. But when you're 20, you dream big. Believe me, I more than anyone know that the chances of my making it in the music business, especially at my age, are about as remote as my chances to be the first person to walk on Mars.SAW75 wrote: Sun Aug 04, 2019 1:58 amWhatever word you want to use. I think, and especially since you yourself said I do all derivative crap, I have a chance to make a modest living doing library music. I mean I've listened to some of the stuff at these sites and I'm not hearing any Grammy winners. In fact, everything pretty much sounds the same. And it really has to in order to appeal to what people are looking for. I don't think I'm ever going to get rich, but I think I'll make a few bucks. Certainly as much as I make selling synth libraries.
I'll be more than content with that.

church is people. i understand and empathise with your ambition but happy to knock you because you have turned so many interesting discussions into terrible thnigs. people did that to me, i realised, it didnt work in my favour. to me, you're basically a device for obscuring threads, easily used. i don't want to lecture teh world on my perspective atm but realistically, what you express is just (i dislike this word but suits) nescience of the facts of profit. you're a good tool for blocking threads, but most people i think, unlikely to offer people in power anythnig they can't avail preferably otherwise. maybe someone will find you useful. in the end, you're a glove, you'll see the use in the end product.
and there are so many other worthwhile applications.

I think given how you've attacked the crap out of me, I've been relatively civil. Please let's not forget who started this confrontation. I certainly didn't come looking for you.SAW75 wrote: Sun Aug 04, 2019 2:00 amYou called me a dick and told me I needed lessons in English... again you are very very passive aggressive.wagtunes wrote: Sun Aug 04, 2019 1:56 amHey, don't look at me. You certainly didn't expect me to just lie down on the ground and let you run over me like a mac truck. There's only so much of a door mat that I'll be before I at least say something. If you think what I said to you was so horrible, then you obviously have no idea how nasty I can be.
But I'm trying to put all this behind me. You think I have zero talent. That's fine. You're not the only person on this planet whose said that to me so don't think you're special because you criticized my music. You're not. You're just another guy who thinks he's better than me and more talented than me. And you may very well be, not that I'd have any way to tell. At least I put myself and my music out there to be ripped to shreds. What do YOU do?
I mean if you're gonna talk big, at least back it up with something. Not doing that is why I basically called you a dick. At least I put my money where my mouth, regardless of how good or bad you think it is.

Forgive me, but you write in a way that I can barely understand. Maybe English isn't your first language or maybe this is a style thing. What I think I got out of the above is that I should make videos offering to do music for people's whatever. The problem with that is the chances of anybody finding these videos on Youtube are slim to none. The effort just wouldn't be worth the meager return.xoxos wrote: Sun Aug 04, 2019 2:10 am church is people. i understand and empathise with your ambition but happy to knock you because you have turned so many interesting discussions into terrible thnigs. people did that to me, i realised, it didnt work in my favour. to me, you're basically a device for obscuring threads, easily used. i don't want to lecture teh world on my perspective atm but realistically, what you express is just (i dislike this word but suits) nescience of the facts of profit. you're a good tool for blocking threads, but most people i think, unlikely to offer people in power anythnig they can't avail preferably otherwise. maybe someone will find you useful. in the end, you're a glove, you'll see the use in the end product.
