Hi all,
All good. Thanks Mulab central for looking into this and yes I think what you suggest is a good compromise. The actual drawing of the waveform in realtime is not the only solution as you have suggested. I guess ultimately the drawing of the waveform is not an absolute guarantee. So a ‘recording’ indicator, or a time elapse indicator, is just as good.
Dakkra your posts are full of passion! All you say is true and helpful. It really is about balance.
For me Bitwig is unbalanced. It's a visual headache and distracts from the music. This is a purely personal feeling and I am no more correct than someone who thrives on all that colour and information.
Horses for corses as they say!

Bit late but... I hear where pinki is coming from; I have memories of using an older version of tracktion that didn't display a waveform while recording, a number of times something went wrong but I didn't know till the end... I think an indicator that shows something is being captured is a good idea, maybe even better than a full waveform.

Interesting people's comments about bigwig here, I've been using the 8 track version and thought it was just me/aging eyes that had a problem, I find the GUI very intense data-wise. I find Live much better in that respect and Mulab even better.

About insufficient visual feedback on audio recording:
I'm hopeful M8.1.6 fixes that.

50 percent is balanced value,u should decide to turn on live midi draw note or audio stream sequence draw, one of these should be turned on,people are different if want to magnet people think deeply, should be balanced mode between functionality and cosmetic looking, even in reaper live note draw available
