I finally decided to check out the Tracktion demo, and I just had a quick question...
Are audio tracks played back direct from disk, or are they RAM-based? Or is it switchable?
Question about audio tracks

audio tracks are played back from the hard drive. Tracktion does use a (user definable) chunk of RAM to provide read-ahead optimization however.

How much RAM can I allocate for read-ahead? 1GB?
The main thing is, I currently do most of my arranging with audio tracks in Acid- since the tracks can be all RAM-based, I can have dozens of tracks going simultaneously without worrying about disk throughput.

Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.
