Here is a quick video going over the new features added to MTuner. The polyphonic tuning is a really convenient addition and the midi out is useful too. This maybe the best digital tuner out there and its free.

This is incredible ! I haven't tried it yet, just finished watching the video. The polyphonic feedback is awesome. And the MIDI output.

There can be a lot of guitar in the creations I do (not always) so I'm looking forward to try it. I presume, with the established trend of Melda plugins to offer a myriad of options, that there should be no problem for a guitarist who do not use a regular tuning. It's been years now that I do not play guitar with the open strings strumming sounding awful (eg. regular tuning) but instead prefer one in which all the open strings sounds good together to start with.

How are you using MTuner ? Do you put it on all guitar tracks by default ? Do you switch it off when tuning is done ? Or rather, are you using it on an FX track, sending the guitar tracks output to it ?

Second point is, and that would be more towards Vojtech, since it recognizes polyphony from a guitar, how far can it be from outputting polyphonic MIDI ?

Cheers.

I usually only use it on one guitar track and turn it off when I'm done with it. I keep it there just in case in need to use it again, but I don't want it using CPU all the time, so I leave it off when I don't need it.

Also, you can change the notes to whatever you want so any alternate tuning you want is available. It even has 8 slots, so those using 8-string guitars can use it.

It is also immensely great for guitars with tremolo, since detuning one string detunes the other strings as well :). So going from E to drop-D is a nightmare with a polyphonic tuner. When I received the MusicMan Majesty recently, I actually (as a sort of beginner ) though the guitar is broken, since I wasn't able to tune it :D

And so, Vojtech, since polyphony is recognized and well identified, how far can it be from outputting polyphonic MIDI ?

Cheers.

It doesn't work that way I'm afraid. The polyphonic detection is a completely different beast and cannot really do this. For starters I'm sure you noticed that you need to select which notes to detect ;).
