I've been using the version 3 beta with the unison and it sounds great, good to see it's out.
I found this synth as someone here posted about it saying it got them into Waldorf territory and had been replacing their Blofeld. I wasn't disappointed, it's become my favourite plugin synth to use, such a cool sound, very interesting possibilities without being overly complex. Great instrument.

The NKS conversion is now also updated to V3 including the new unison features and patches, with NKS audio previews and an updated template - all in the NKS User Library (in my sig) along with an updated version of the CHE patches.

I just got this after demoing 3 different synths. I gotta say I really like this synth a lot and never even heard of it before. I had a little contact with the dev and he seems like a great person to deal with. I am really happy with my purchase.

Hilarious seeing my posts when first introduced to this piece because 3 years later its one of a handful of instruments still left on my harddrive. Its the waldorf microQ of software for me and, I like the original gui best.

Dasheesh, it was one of your comments in another thread here that got me to check out and subsequently buy this synth, I have to say thank you for pointing it out. It's one of the very few synth plugins I use and it is brilliant. Simple to use but it can go very deep.Dasheesh wrote: Thu Mar 28, 2019 12:42 am Hilarious seeing my posts when first introduced to this piece because 3 years later its one of a handful of instruments still left on my harddrive. Haha, Dasheesh's comments are also what drove me to this synth. What's funny is that I now OWN a Waldorf MicroQ and putting it through the paces. I'm actually curious to see just how much this goes into Waldorf territory now that I have the real thing sitting right next to me. It certainly has been an experience learning how to use hardware
I will say that it's been an eye-opening experience. I always knew that software was just as good and often exceeds what hardware can do in this day-and-age, but I always felt that hardware still often had that special something that most average or cheap vsts hadn't quite gotten yet. Having a Nord Rack 2 next to me and the freeware Synth1, I find myself using the latter more~
Sheesh, if anyone knows any contemporary VSTs that sounds like a Novation synths, feel free to let me know as well. Maybe I'll end up selling all this stuff sooner than I thought

The good old Novation V-station, still useable but thinner sounding next to my X-Station. Also the Bass Station VST, but again thinner than the hardware, but has a stereo version. Hopefully they will re-release the plugins by today's standard.

Same!! I'd love to find a contemporary VST with that "liquid" filter and vintage tone. I also have a Roland JD990 and V-Synth, but I do think Roland Cloud will eventually release a vst of the former and I think Omnisphere can do a good job compensating for both of them.crystalmsc wrote: Fri Aug 23, 2019 10:40 amThe good old Novation V-station, still useable but thinner sounding next to my X-Station. Tried to download latest update (4.0.2). Trojan Zpevdo.B detected by Windows Defender. Ok?
Lovely synth btw, has a nice "creamy" character.
Edit: Problem solved. Unsurprisingly a false positive on Microsofts end.

Working more with the MicroQ and the ArcSyn, I wouldn't honestly say they sound alike actually. They're both similar in the sense that they're both punchy and rich in an extremely digital sounding way, so they're at least from the same family in that sense, but I wouldn't call the character between both synths really all that close imo. ArcSyn is still a great synth if you want a fat sounding and utterly digital synth!

you guys use, and have different expectations then me. i compared the two because they have the same architecture, and I use them in the same instances, and i wind up making the same patches with them. I am not talking about 1 -> 1 character. I'm talking about feel mostly, and behavior.
as far as novation goes, novation had a very plastic, and liquid sound that people loved because it was done to such a high degree. in other words, obviously VA, but that meant something different then. It was a high resolution liquid, plastic, obvious VA sound... a lot like the nord, but with a little more juice in the filter, and the nord was a lot dirtier. I don't have an obvious replacement, because... well, today's music is damn clean... most of the character aspect is lost. especially in dance music... all the noise is being eliminated, so... not sure how you are supposed to compare any more. I just go by how i use a software instrument in place of hardware one. the novation VA's sound the same, but they are desperately in need of updating. Almost unusable, so can't really recommend them. If novation was smart they would update those VA's.
