Gain Staging in Zebra 2

As a total newb (less than 2 weeks with Zebra) I have to ask what I hope isn't a really stupid question, and that is, how do I handle gain staging? Some of the presets are WAY loud (I'm running Zeb through a compressor to knock it down a little).

I see lots of places within the synth to control levels- what I'm asking is for best practices advice, and thanks in advance!

If the whole preset is too loud for you, just bring down the master Output knob.
