Diva - How to have glide when notes don't overlap in legato mode?

I was trying to replicate a patch in from minimonsta in Diva where it was in legato mode but glide also worked when notes do not overlap. So when notes do overlap you get the continuous sustain without retrigger as usual, but you also get glide when notes don't overlap. In Diva in legato mode a new new note does not glide, which is what you'd often want, but not always. If you set it to mono, of course you can get glide to work regardless of whether notes overlap but then you lose the legato note sustain. I must be missing something, but how do you have both? IT seems to work this way with minimonsta (at least on the patch I'm trying to recreate).
Thanks!
Thanks!

Minimonsta emulates Minimoog behavior which didn't have auto-glide functionality (gliding possible only on legato notes), plus envelopes weren't retriggered when playing legato. In Diva (or more correctly, all u-he products), legato mode merges the two things together, so you cannot have regular glide triggered on any note with legato-triggered envelopes, AFAIK.

I'm trying to have glide when legato notes aren't triggered (ie,a gap between notes).EvilDragon wrote: Mon Aug 26, 2019 6:32 am Minimonsta emulates Minimoog behavior which didn't have auto-glide functionality (gliding possible only on legato notes), plus envelopes weren't retriggered when playing legato. So I'm not sure what the take away is from the 2 replies. They seem contradictory as well. Is it not possible to d what I'm trying to do?
FYI Monark works the way I'm describing (And trying to figure out how to do in Diva) as well, when it's glide mode is set to "always". Legato still works for overlapped notes in this mode (envelopes continue rather than reset on overlapped notes) but glide does occur when notes don't overlap. This is what I can't figure out how to do in Diva. Given that Monark and Minimonsta both do it, I figure Diva would have a mode to have this behavior too?

Yes, unfortunately that's correct: In legato mode glide only works on notes played legato.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Mon Aug 26, 2019 11:58 am So I'm not sure what the take away is from the 2 replies. They seem contradictory as well. Is it not possible to d what I'm trying to do?
We do have an open ToDo ticket for that option though, but I can't yet say when...

Ok cool, good to know I’m not missing the option. I never noticed this behavior before trying to figure out what I liked about this particular minimonata patch. I’m glad diva works the way it does but that option would definitely allow for some more authentic minimoog sounds.Urs wrote: Mon Aug 26, 2019 12:21 pmYes, unfortunately that's correct: In legato mode glide only works on notes played legato.Echoes in the Attic wrote: Mon Aug 26, 2019 11:58 am So I'm not sure what the take away is from the 2 replies. Hmmm, I just quickly checked and you're right. Minimoog simply, always glides. I guess I simply forgot about that.

Glad I could help! Surprised that no minimoog enthusiasts noticed this!Urs wrote: Mon Aug 26, 2019 2:13 pm Hmmm, I just quickly checked and you're right. Minimoog simply, always glides. I guess I simply forgot about that.

Guess that tells you how many people really LOVE to have glide enabled ALL the time.

Trying to imagine what it sounds like. In my compositions I input a very short overlapping note in the piano roll when I need to begin a passage with glide (basically a short grace note). I like this because the glide can start from anywhere, not constrained by the previous played pitch.
Sometimes it sounds better to simply move the pitch wheel before playing the note as it's more string/guitar-like.

Well there is a mode to have glide all the time for those that want it (mono with glide turned up), but no legato then. So there just isn’t the minimoog style legato where it also glides on separated note retrigger. I never thought about it myself but play with the default minimonata patch to see why it’s a cool effect. Not a long glide, just adds something extra to the attack, like using a bit of envelope pitch mod, but still allowsEvilDragon wrote: Mon Aug 26, 2019 6:25 pm Guess that tells you how many people really LOVE to have glide enabled ALL the time.![]()
Legato playing without that attack. I think it’s the default minimonata patch anyways.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean. Not a fan of that. If I want a glide, I will legato it in, from wherever I want it to glide in. Not when the synth thinks it should glide

Right, but again in this case it isn’t really a glide, it’s effectively using the glide as a certain short attack style like you’d use an envelope on pitch to give a little whip. It’s like saying you wouldn’t need an envelope on the pitch since you could use the pitch wheel.

I was just mucking with all this on Diva, Legend, and Monark - correct me if I'm wrong (like I have to even say that
)
Minimoog was Glide: Always
Diva is Glide: Legato (only)
Monark is Glide: Always or Legato (optional toggle)
Legend is Glide: Always (only)
(my Sub 37 has the Always / Legato option similar to Monark).
*********************************************************
Sounds like Urs got it "wrong" (in terms of the Minimoog) by making Diva's glide Legato? I consider that a feature, especially for basses - gets a fret-less vibe going.
Unfortunately for Legend fans, Legato glide isn't possible AFAIK, however it sounds like that's in keeping with the original Mini.
Monark has a an ineresting option for "Silver" glide, which keeps the glide rate the same regardless of the distance between notes. From the name I'm guessing that was originally a Roland thing (303?)
Edit: Duh - on Diva this is the Time/Rate option.
None besides Diva have the special sauce U-he Glide2, however
