It is actually a standard software license agreement by microsoft - and most software if you read the license agreement before agreeing to it during isntall actually still work like this. Its not really nonsense. And I did point out that it depends on the developer.

So? That doesnt decree what any other developer sets out in their license.

Its not really nonsense.

You said:
The fact is that with software you're allowed to use 1 copy at any given time.
and that is nonsense. Its a fact that some developers make that a condition of their license. It is not a fact that this is something which is ubiquitous 'with software', which is what you stated.

And I did point out that it depends on the developer.

And contradicted yourself. I didnt quibble with your contradiction, just your (incorrect) blanket statement.

And in the next sentence I mention that this is software license agreement standard, and many many pieces of software have that clause in their license agreements. And the point about this is 'simultaneous' use. NI let you use 2 instances (or more now, don't know) simultaneously while you just acquire a single license.
When you buy MS-Word for example, its 'use 1 only at any given time'.

As for incorrect - try reading the agreements, that helps with the understanding :P

Are we talkin 'legally' installing ur apps and plugs on more than one machine?

No, we're talking legally installing your apps and plugins on more than one machine.

After the doubletake, I laughed outloud.

Good to know about the licensing. I want to be completely legit, would only use one instance at a time.

This makes sense to me. My father worked extensively in teaching CAD to students and the licensing issues were similar. For a classroom, either every computer had to be licensed or a site license had to be purchased. it is the one-instance-at-a-time rule of thumb.

I don't have a laptop, but the pc at home and work are used by me only, so this could turn out allright.
..what goes around comes around..
