like that.

Mine is very similar to mclilith: black background, with a recycle bin and one lonely shortcut to Live.

If I wanted to be literal like cypher, then to the left you would see a small rack with Roland VariOS, Novation A-Station, Kawai K5000, RedSound DarkStar 2, and looking a bit further left there would be a Roland V-Synth keyboard...

all of which would be overshadowed by the enormous amount of empty, exotic beer bottles on my desk.

Switch it off then! (The walt disney but I fuckin do!)

Nice one McLilith, though I prefer a pastel black myself...

:D

Is there really any advantage sticking with that orrible default teal though? Surely any colour will use the same resources...

Talking of which, I've read that some msstyles use less resources than others, I tried a couple (hacking the uxtheme first of course) but couldn't see any real difference. Maybe a really minimal, non-3d, primary colour style would benefit audio users?

If not, is it worth thinking about using Litestep instead? Does it really save any resources or do you lose a lot of functionality? Is all software compatible with it?

so may questions...

personally, i hate the Walt Disney feel of the winXP look...
Me too, or rather the fisherprice-ness of it.

That's why I use some of the best (custom) XP visual styles available. By the way, they use exactly same API for the graphics as windows XP itself. Only a simple (and legit) patch is needed.

No worries of crashing anything and they will use even less memory because some of the 3rd party designers are lightyears ahead of microsoft. It's odd that MS didn't enable this feature by default.

And don't bother with any 3rd party shells like litestep if you like stability. They are not necessary for Visual Styles.

I'm not suprised that so many people have switched off the default Luna, But,

People, you DO have a choice. There are plenty of good looking, compact and better functioning alternatives to Luna and the old Win95 look.

I've left mine as it comes. I don't spend too long worrying about the appearance of stuff, I'm more interested in it's functionality.

Mine changes radically every day. I've been a customisation whore for years.
