While its true that we only have a licence to use the software, it is often possible to transfer the licence for renumeration.el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote: Wed Sep 04, 2019 2:36 pmOk! A subscription on the other hand is money for a service and non-refundable.
A bit like paying a mortgage which will result in owning the property one day or paying rent forever and never owning even one brick. Software companies prefer the subscription model because every time an already existing licence is transfered its money that does not go in their till. A potential new customer is lost.

We are not there yet , if you have purchased reaktor or kontakt in the past , you will still be able to use it without using the subscritpion based plan , unless you want to upgrade ( assuming they go that route )JunSev wrote: Wed Sep 04, 2019 2:18 pm Disgusting subscriptions models, I hate all of them... As long as people keep accepting those procedures in all areas everything will be worse, a sad world where the individual is completely dependent of services and not even the product ones is paid will be our possession anymore.
If you paid full price for the software , they can't charge you more money to keep using THAT specific version ..I dont even think that would be legal .
It's called a perpetual license , you pay for it once , and you are allowed to keep using THAT version ,it's what autodesk and adobe used to have in the past but not anymore .
SO whatever route N.I. goes , you will still be able to use the version you paid for ( you never own software , you just buy the rights to use it )

All good until you said this:
You Buy The Product, You Have The Product.
From my previous post:
Please stop this trending, you see people have a distorted perception of things due to this and even thinking about subscriptions as a more "viable" solution for the future; companies and corporations love this procedures so to make us more and more dependent on them, this need to stop.you never own software , you have the right to use it
You Buy The Product, You Have The Product.
From my previous post:
We already discussed this before, again depending from which companies you're buying a software product, the product you're buying is yours; there is terms and conditions for it, we have to respect it, the same as when you buy a laptop, smartphone, tablet and other countless examples about products with their terms and conditions. You respect the terms, the product is yours, you can't of course do whatever you want with it, but is your possessions.
That's why many companies and developers says in their own websites: Download Your Product.
Exactly, because is yours, you paid for it, like come on... what's wrong with you guys?
I'm starting to think that maybe some of you are relatives to some of those companies or developers that supports subscriptions, so to make it look more "viable" option for the future. Simply because is absurd how exaggerated and unjustified your points are.
Use your mind the right way.
With all respect.

I am not currently required to pay the yearly upgrade to keep using the software. If there is nothing in the yearly upgrade I need, no need to purchase. Subscription takes that choice away from me.vurt wrote: Wed Sep 04, 2019 3:58 pmwhat if the sub was able to be cancelled on such occasions? and worked out cheaper than a yearly upgrade?pdxindy wrote: Wed Sep 04, 2019 3:53 pmyes...Spencer Maddox wrote: Wed Sep 04, 2019 2:53 pm Am I the only One who doesn’t hate subscription that much as long as it’s done reasonably?![]()
Subscription doesn't work for me... I am not doing paid work and music is a hobby. I'll soon be going traveling for a few months. During that time, a subscription would mean I was still paying during a period I am not even using the software.

they (devs) say in the eula that you are purchasing a licence to use the software
of course, a licence is no good without the software, so you get that too
... but you dont own the actual software (code etc)
