you never own software , you have the right to use it
Please stop this trending, you see people have a distorted perception of things due to this and even thinking about subscriptions as a more "viable" solution for the future; companies and corporations love this procedures so to make us more and more dependent on them, this need to stop.

You Buy The Product, You Have The Product.
well, its a tricky one....

they (devs) say in the eula that you are purchasing a licence to use the software

of course, a licence is no good without the software, so you get that too

... but you dont own the actual software (code etc)
Yes, you're right (Anx?). Because you don't own the software but you own the product, that's why I said ones have to respect the terms and conditions; there is not dependency like with the subscription paying over and over again without ever getting anything.

Rent to own is a good option of course.

With all respect.
schroedingers plugin?
It’s both in and out at the same time? :hihi:

No. I love my Slate sub. It's a fair price and if you paid for it for 10 years it wouldn't be enough to buy all the stuff I use. Plus, they keep adding stuff and I use it a lot.

Sub hate is just messed up.
Count me as someone who doesn't use subscriptions with software.
Slate do it right though, offering both subscription and purchasing models.
I'm self employed, and my income is far too varied for subscription models to work for me.

"While users of Komplete, Maschine and Traktor may be concerned at what this means for the future of their hardware and software, NI says that it remains fully committed to these brands."

Those two words: "fully" and "committed".

I've got a really bad feeling about this... (as a Maschine + Komplete owner)

Optimal number of audio plugins is one more than you currently have.

CDM seems to suggest they lost some product leads and even developers working on Maschine. Is there any speculation on what is going to happen with Massive X?

Pretty sure Massive X is here to stay. Here they say they are are "fully committed to their existing brands Komplete, Maschine and Traktor"
