"Push 2 Crashed"

When I select the arrow that points away from the circle, the second place in the Ableton Push 2 Controller Section that says "Ableton Push 2 Live Port", then the controller crashes. The Push is able to send midi into Bitwig when I set it up as a Generic Midi Controller, but no buttons are lit up, and neither is the screen.
I would really like to use Push4Bitwig. Any idea about how to fix this?

Does the original Push work with Linux? This article (http://cdm.link/2015/12/push-2-hardware-now-works-in-bitwig-including-on-linux/) seems to be specific about Push 2 working, which implies that the first generation doesn't (and I have had annoying experiences in the past where I've bought Native Instruments controllers only to find out that they're Windows / Mac only MIDI controllers).

The Push controller script for Bitwig is the best. I think it's better implemented than Abletons.

Push4Bitwig is integrated in DrivenByMoss for quite a while: http://www.mossgrabers.de/Software/Bitwig/Bitwig.html
With that Push 1 (and 2) is supported in Bitwig 3.
