Extending Ableton Live's MIDI editing UI- Event viewer etc. ?

After a year or two using multiple DAWs I'd like to standardise on one for music creation (I'm sticking with Reaper for mastering and mixing finalised stems).

I'd pick Ableton if it weren't for the lack of a MIDI event editor. Google suggests this is a long time gripe for a number of people, but is there anything I can add to Ableton (I have 10 Suite), either a VST or M4L or anything that doesn't involve shelling out to an external application to do the event editing? A tabular text based event editor like in Reaper, Cakewalk and the like.

Maxforlive.com I haven’t run across anything like that, but haven’t really looked.

Just had a look through Maxforlive.com and can't find anything there. The only M4L MIDI related thing I've seen is the MIDI Monitor (in the M4L tools you get with Suite) and that's just a read only event list.
Programming's my day job and I'd rather not bring that into my hobby, but if I can't find anything ready rolled I may have to try and write something myself.

It is a weakness of Live, but kind of outside its original mission. I’d like to see lists of lots of things. Markers, time signs, etc.

Kind of surprising that it hasn’t been done with M4L.

There is a limited one (only notes) in this pack, named simply "MIDI Note Editor":

https://www.maxforlive.com/library/devi ... -operators

I know apps like Touchable Pro can edit envelopes in the Clips (not Arrangement), so it is definitely possible to read the values from a Clip (to build a Event Viewer).

Cheers, will give it a go.

Good hunting.

Although that looks useful it seems to primarily be a visual note/modulation editor not a text based event editor. Most people respond better to visual editors, but I don't.

As I said though, that does have some cool features like folding to a selected scale.
