What is the hive 2.1 updates Urs?

There might be some of that too.

Thing is, for Uhbik we modernised every single filter using analogue models (aka "zero delay feedback") in favour of standard DSP (so called Direct Form filters). While this doesn't change the sound in any audible way, it improves numerical stability (less prone to DC offsets) and it improves how filters react to tweaking and fast modulation (aka "solid sound").

We would like to give Filterscape and MFM2 the same treatment. But, the (student) developer who's doing this is going to leave us for a few months (thesis...). Hence I'm afraid that this won't happen before some time next year.

Hehehe, please understand that I don't want to hype anything up with details - much of it is subject to change. I'm just putting this out here because it is very likely to happen before Z3 release.

Urs, my understanding is that Uhbik will come with an updated GUI. Please tell me that it keeps some of the general style I like so much about them. 😊

And when the updates to Filterscape and MFM happen, will those come with a new GUI? Sorry to say but these two confuse the hell out of me.

They'll look *very* different, featuring a much cleaner layout.

There are drafts for new UIs, but I have no idea where those are - in terms of readiness.

I have bought the U-Biks years ago, but don't use it anymore because I had massive problems with the GUI with many instances open.(especially more than 20). There is flickering and very slow response and sometimes crashing Reaper x64 5.7xx-5.9xy on win 8.1 x64.

I would like to use it again.
Would it be possible to simplify the elements in these GUIs.
The soundquality of the effects is great !!!

As I said, they look vastly different and the layout is cleaned up.

Most know UI issues have been tackled (see latest builds thread).

What I'd love for Hive is more filter types like Spire has. I go to Zebra when I want those things, but I miss the immediacy and simple UI of Hive.

Maybe if you beat your staff more, made them work harder!

Keep up the terrific work! I just wish I could be a fly on the wall while y'all worked on your filters...
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

It's true, beatings help. I find yelling works well too. And remember to reward good behavior--just not in a predictable fashion.

I'm fairly sure it's mostly my own fault. Beating them sounds like an overly time consuming hobby.

Unless you use it as a controlled sound source. No samples!

Whatever happened to Howard's 'Bazille Cookbook'?

Post

It's waiting for a particular Bazille update to get some mapper feature that Howie used but wasn't released to public.

Post

It's in the latest builds... we'll have a few more iterations of these, then can't wait to push it all out!
