FR: Volume Envelope for MCabinet

Hi,
Just purchased MCabinet yesterday, great tool.
But, the title almost says it all. I really wish there was an envelope in MCabinet.
For my normal IR duties I tend to use Logics Space Designer and one feature I'm using all the time is its volume envelope. Helps an incredible lot to get rid of some early reflections and hence certain resonances (which I usually don't want as I use most of my own IR creations live in a hardware modeler). Would be just great to have a volume envelope in MCabinet as well. Ideally, this could be a part of the IR display, making adjustments easy. Shouldn't consume much CPU power, either.
Do you think this is doable?
Cheers
Sascha

Could you use the Envelope in one of the Modulators?

As I'm new to MCabinet, could you kindly explain to me how I'd start with that?

And fwiw, regardless whether that would work or not (and I will certainly try it out in case I understand the how-to), I think an envelope straight on the IR display would be the easiest thing to make this happen. It's like that in Logics Space Designer and works like a charme.

Yes enveloppe is already there within modulators. Check melda videos on modulators, it is not that hard to learn...

Where do I find any turorials on that? I searched on YT and didn't find anything specific regarding the modulators in MCabinet.

I doubt if there any tutorials for modulators specifically in MCabinet.
Can you define exactly what the envelope does in Space Designer? Then we can work out how to do it in MCabinet. At first sight, an Envelope with a small delay, applied to the Dry/Wet parameter, might be a start.

Well, all I want is a volume envelope, so modulating the mix parameter isn't what I want, needs to be output volume (but I'd rather have this stay unmodulated for overall volume balance).
I start to see how this could possibly be done with the modulators (even if I'm not sure yet), but for such an easy task it'd be *way* better to simply have it as a straight overlay of the IR waveform - which offers nothing but a visual anyway, so it could easily be "abused" to edit the volume. Here's how it looks in Space Designer:

Easy and convenient.

And fwiw, it's a *really* useful editing tool when dealing with cab-IRs. I would happily supply a sound example how it turns some absolute garbage into something useful with just a single mouse-dragging operation.

... MConvolutionMB has a Volume envelope (and low-pass and hi-pass filters), so maybe Vojtech could add that to MCabinet?

Yeah, that'd be just great.DarkStar wrote: Tue Oct 01, 2019 1:59 pm ... MConvolutionMB has a Volume enveoloep, so that could be added to MCabinet;

Fwiw, in case the developer is reading this thread: It shouldn't be all too hard to implement such an envelope, right? I mean, it's technology/code that already exists in several Melda products.
No idea about others, but this would be so welcomed - really, I'm using envelopes when creating cab IRs all the time.

I'm afraid this won't happen and it doesn't make a slightest sense. The cabinet IRs are very short and in fact min phase, so this would only change the spectrum response.

As said, I would happily post some comparison between a full length cab IR (nothing particularly long, let's say around 1024 samples @ 48kHz) and a trimmed version. The differences sometimes are *huge*, really. And it's nothing you can as easily do with any EQing as it's about early reflections happening in the time domain.
Well, I will just post an example tomorrow or so. That will set things straight.

So, here's a sound example. 4 bars using an IR of 1024 samples (unfortunately at 44.1, forgot to switch sample rates, doesn't matter for this demonstration, though) followed by 4 bars using the same IR cut to 400 samples and faded out just a tiny little bit. So, what we're dealing with here is absolutely within the length of typical IRs. Fwiw, I have once "shot" this IR deliberately to contain loads of proximity and ER stuff (for experimental reasons).

To my ears, that's a difference like friggin' night and day, no less.
I can get exactly the same results non-destructively using the volume envelope of Logics Space Designer.
So, @MeldaProduction, I'm terribly sorry, but saying "it doesn't make a slightest sense" is a pretty weird statement. Because it simply makes a whole lot of sense, as the audio example above should perfectly prove. I'm using envelopes on IRs ever since I started using them for guitar recordings.
Fwiw, here's the original and trimmed IRs:
