ZebraHZ Player Edition?

I own Zebra2/ZebraHZ.

I've always thought ZebraHZ would be a great gift for a friend who is a huge Batman/Dark Knight fan. But the upfront cost of getting Zebra2 and then ZebraHZ is a bit much for the use he would get out of it. He only dabbles in making music on the computer, primarily a guitarist. He wouldn't be looking to mess with many parameters or edit patches or create patches. Just probably load up the popular, familiar patches and geek out :hyper: :wheee:

ZebraHZ is my goto u-he synth. I reach for it more than Zebra2. I wonder if something like a ZebraHZ Player Edition would be something worth exploring? There's a ton of Dark Knight fans out there who might then buy it. I think the price could maybe be the same, at $99, but it would be limited in ways and wouldn't require Zebra2 as a prerequisite. I imagine maybe some macro controls like the X/Y pads and some simple performance controls. But its main purpose would be to appeal and sell to those who are more Dark Knight fans than they are synth programmers. But a gateway perhaps.

Then maybe there could be an upgrade path the opposite direction, "Get full control and Zebra2 for $199." Thoughts on this idea?

I don't think creating a second post asking for the same thing, because you didn't get the answer you wanted the first time around is the best look

It's very similar to your Roli player request is it not?

Oh gotcha. No, similar only in the use of the word player. That other idea would be for more like the Roli Studio Player, in which owners of u-he synths can browse patches of all the u-he synths they own, within one plugin.

This idea is for a feature stripped, patch player version of ZebraHZ, that could be purchased by anybody without the need to own Zebra2 first. Then that user could upgrade the opposite way if they wanted to then have the features and ability to edit.

Wouldn't see much point in it. While there are some cool sounds in the soundset, lot of them are variations and it really isn't very versatile set overall. Probably most people buy the soundset for the extended synth features and the actual sounds are more like a bonus. If there would be more like 4000 rather than around 400 sounds, maybe there would be some point. But still you would lack the editing features. Maybe as an IOS app like Synthmaster Player, and for much cheaper than 99...
