I've always thought ZebraHZ would be a great gift for a friend who is a huge Batman/Dark Knight fan. But the upfront cost of getting Zebra2 and then ZebraHZ is a bit much for the use he would get out of it. He only dabbles in making music on the computer, primarily a guitarist. He wouldn't be looking to mess with many parameters or edit patches or create patches. Just probably load up the popular, familiar patches and geek out
ZebraHZ is my goto u-he synth. I reach for it more than Zebra2. I wonder if something like a ZebraHZ Player Edition would be something worth exploring? There's a ton of Dark Knight fans out there who might then buy it. I think the price could maybe be the same, at $99, but it would be limited in ways and wouldn't require Zebra2 as a prerequisite. I imagine maybe some macro controls like the X/Y pads and some simple performance controls. But its main purpose would be to appeal and sell to those who are more Dark Knight fans than they are synth programmers. But a gateway perhaps.
Then maybe there could be an upgrade path the opposite direction, "Get full control and Zebra2 for $199." Thoughts on this idea?
