MVocoder - adding a step sequencer to trigger the volumes of each band

With the vocoder acting as a filter (no modulator input), I noticed it is possible to get REALLY BEAUTIFUL sounds when moving the volumes sliders of each band randomly with the mouse !

It would be nice to find a way to automate the volume slider changes.
That's when i remembered the moogerfooger murf.
The moogerfooger uses a step sequencer to control the volume of each filter relative to time, so a sequencer could be added in the meldavocoder to control the volumes of each band at each step of the sequencer...

For example :
Step 1 in the sequencer : band 3 goes to full volume, all other bands are volume at zero
Step 2 : bands 5 and 10 go to full volume, all other bands go down to zero

Etc

Possibilities are endless.
The max volume of each band can still be fixed by the band EQ graph like the sliders on the moogerfooger pedal, so it wont change the basic way the plugin works.

There's just an enveloppe parameter to add to control the time it takes for a band to reach it's full volume and go back down when it's triggered by the sequencer.
And maybe also the speed of the step sequencer.

The moogerfooger has 8 volume sliders... the melda has up to 100 !

It's a great effect that can be used everywhere to add sublte movement to sounds or to do more dramatic stepped filter effects. And all this is just one sequencer away...

There's a lot of detailed information in the moog manual :

You even have examples of sequencer patterns at the end.

Ojojoj, ok, I see the point, but I wouldn't put it to MVocoder, but it could be a special plugin (and in the MXXX as well)..

Yeah it would certainly be better as another filter related effect since it has nothing to do with vocoding. :)

Another way of doing it ?
Ten band pass filters in parallel, a 64 step sequencer to control the volume of each filter.
A stereo width parameter could also be added where the filters would be panned left and right alternatively, filter 1 left, filter 2 right etc...

Basically it can't be done in MXXX because you would have to use one step sequencer per filter instead of having one global step sequencer... that would be unusable.:hihi:

Actually maybe it would be simpler to create a special step sequencer modulator where it would be possible to assign a target parameter for each line of the sequencer.
This way it could be useful for plenty of crazy things and not just this filter effect.

Did a device like this ever get made?
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

Hello, the step sequencer exists, and i did several moog murf presets available in MXXX, but they are using a filter module, not the vocoder.
