first impression after a couple hours. Good job on the UI improvments! SkaLOoper is running fine...
Made some timestretch test. Are there best settings for drum loops? I noticed some artifacts on 8 bar drum loop stretched at 80% with granular and default settings. Also, a personnal thing: the percent value seems not intuitive to match a target tempo.

Each piece of audio (eg drumloops) can be very different. There are no presets for certain audio types but the amount of stretch controls is limited so best to tweak them until you get best results.

Generally for drumloops it's best to use spectral stretching.

An important note wrt stretching: Simply inserting a sample into a sample player will not give best results, certainly not for drumloops, because the time stretching relies on the audio sequences to handle the transients.

So instead of inserting the sample in a sample player (eg MuSampla) better to insert a Sequence Player module and drop the sample there. This will create an audio sequence and you'll have all power of M8's audio sequences, which goes far beyond time stretching only.
Also, a personnal thing: the percent value seems not intuitive to match a target tempo.
When using audio sequences the sequence will automatically play at the host DAW's tempo.

Yes, I was thinking about it, but had not tested, not knowing that audio sequence could work in the sequence player. Good news!
I saw the vids about Audio Sequences and was really impressed. I only have MUX for now, but it's time for me to buy Mulab 8 to continue my work with the Skalooper, so all the work, including recordings and loop editing will be made in the Mutools ecosystem. I'll have to rebuild the audio part using Sequence Player, this will allow tempo changes to my little tool ;)

OK, some samples dropped in the Sequence Player, this works far better, but I'll have to revisit my midi notes routing. Not sure if I can rebuilt another efficient Skalooper this way. This could be CPU intensive, with 80 sequence players and lots of markers...
I think will reduce it to 12 clips instead of 16 for the timestretch/pitchshift version.

About the beta: for now, no bugs. But this project will be a stress test for sure, at least for the features used in it. ;)

Waiting patiently for Mac version  :tu:

Found 2 little things:
1) in the step sequencer, when you double click on "mod group X">"length" and enter value in the field, it always return the max value (400%), no matter if you type number only or number with % sign. (Works as expected in the Velocity panels just above)

2)Sequence Player: Lane and mute/solo not visible when you copy samples from an existing sequence to an empty new one.

Fixed in the next update.
2)Sequence Player: Lane and mute/solo not visible when you copy samples from an existing sequence to an empty new one.
Can you pls list the steps how to repeat this?

Post

1) create a new sequence by dropping a sample on a Sequence Player
2) Open the sequence: I can see lane number and Mute/Solo button for each lane
3) Select and copy sample elements on the grid.
4) Open another instance of Sequence Player > create new sequence
5 ) paste: the samples are copied, but the lane and Mute/Solo are not visible.

Another one I just saw this morning: when opening the Sequence Players I made yesterday, all the waveform display have disapeared inside the elements. Samples are still there (this are stock library samples) and played as expected, but no info lane and no waveform in 5 different Sequence Players.

I just see this too late as M8.2.9 already was in the pipeline. Will have a look at this tomorrow. Question: Do you have a MUX 8 VST user key? If not then MUX VST is working in demo mode and it's not saving data in the host project. Could that explain that new issue you added? If you want a MUX 8 VST test user key pls email me.

MUX Plug-In 8.2.9 beta for Windows 64 bit is available in http://www.mutools.com/mux/beta/

What's changed:
  • More menu items have a popup description.
  • Menu items with a popup description can also have a "More..." button that opens the relevant doc page.
  • The docs folder path now also is a preference. This way the menu info tips also appear when you prefer offline docs.
  • A new "Show menu info popups" preference lets you choose whether the menu info popups should be shown or not.
Because after a while, when you know MuLab / MUX Plugin inside out, it's more comfortable to not show the info popups anymore.
  • Step sequencer: Editing Mod Group Length values was not working as expected. Fixed.
  • Sequence Player module: When creating a new sequence, you can choose whether it should be an audio or a MIDI sequence.
  • When scanning a VST folder with plugins that already are in the database then the question "Rescan - Skip" came for each already listed plugin again. Fixed.
  • Plus several other improvements.
How to update:
Windows: Replace the current MUX DLL and ID files by the new ones. (4 files in total)

"Sequence Player module: When creating a new sequence, you can choose whether it should be an audio or a MIDI sequence."

I think it's related to my issue. When I copied datas, the Sequence player was in midi mode (keyboard, not lane).
The second issue may be related to this too, because after closing and reopening MUX, the waveforms were displayed (but still no lane infos).

I work with the MUX 8 demo version (I own a MUX 7 key). I'll send you a mail for a test request, because working on Skalooper I need more than half an hour tests ;)
