Apple overall is arrogant, overpriced and implement constantly bad politics, this is not news.
As I said before windows is not like the good guys neither, but there is a difference, how they do things and (being aware or not) the consideration about compatibility issues amd situations; in contrast ones can see apple and the way how they do things: "let's get rid of this... let's get rid of that...". Is this attitude that really puts me off, that is arrogance
And apple think that can go always away with it because a big majority of their userbase (not all) likes those overpriced products and the looks, the "status", look me I have an apple product it looks cool... big nonsense.
All with respect to all apple users here, Is just that there are things that I don't like.
I definitely don't recommend macs neither:

I only came to this thread because I got the email and immediately logged on to KVR because I knew the backlash would be a fun read, but I'll bite.soundeziner wrote: Wed Oct 16, 2019 9:49 pmIt's not about "Which OS is better...", it's about the attitude of making your problems our problems and insulting us in the process.
If we're going to talk about making your problems our problems then I, a Windows guy, have received 15 emails from 13 different companies telling me not to upgrade to Catalina yet and I'll be expected to subsidise the associated costs to developers just so Mac and Windows versions of the same software can be offered at a flat price. And then we'll get to do it all over again when OpenGL support is dropped, just with a bit more cost involved to keep things fresh.
And as for insulting, it could be worse. He could have ran a years-long international advertising campaign along these lines.

My point of view as a Melda user:
For those who say Melda is "passing their problems on to the customer"...
Well, suppose you get paid a certain $$ amount to do a job. Then, complications
that you didn't cause make you do 10 extra hours of work. Should you always
do the extra work for free? And what if you had to work another 10 extra hours
over that, and then another 10....and so on- for an unpredictable amount of time?
If you get paid for the extra work, are you "passing your problems on to the customer"?
Are you a bad person if you explain what the difficulty is?
Well, I don't think so!
Also, it seems that the moves Apple is making won't just affect Melda. So you
can refuse to continue with Melda, but you'll probably have to give up a lot of other stuff, too.

When you sell a product promising "Free-for-life updates" then YES, you are offering to do the extra work without extra charge.sirmonkey wrote: Thu Oct 17, 2019 5:02 am suppose you get paid a certain $$ amount to do a job. Then, complications

For me, as a PC user, the most important part was the last paragraph.
Now, one thing that no-one can complain about is the continuous flow of new plug-ins / features / fixes from MeldaProduction. And all updates are free, even major version changes (other developers, are you reading this?). Long may that continue.

Yes, I am a fan, but not a fanboi. Vojtech has listened to my opinions on several aspects of the products and responded to many of them.
If either Apple or Microsoft make changes to their OS that involve developers in extra work, then there will be less time for development of new plug-ins / new features / application bug-fixing and the code base will become more difficult to maintain. So the problems that MeldaProduction and other developers run into may well affect us.So the real question is, do you want the developers of your DAW and plugins to spend their days trying to fix the problems arising from system upgrades, or to improve their own software products, making them more functional, more powerful, faster, stable and easier to use? If it's the latter one, then the only solution seems to switch to Windows. The only one, who can make a difference is you, the customer.

The only email Melda should've been sending out is to Apple. This is of no concern to their paying customers, all of whom are aware that there are other OS alternatives. The condecension underpinning that email seems pretty aligned with the way this developer generally conducts himself, and it's not much of a surprise that he's the only developer who thought it an appropriate way to vent.
As has been said by others, this is the developer's problem, not the customer's. And if he cannot deal with it, perhaps it's time to consider dropping OSX support, altogether.

I wish it was that simple. Apple simply doesn't care, because they know nobody will dare to speak up (except for meel-bo (formerly ebow) wrote: Thu Oct 17, 2019 8:34 am The only email Melda should've been sending out is to Apple. Sure an email be a bit nonideal way to send a bulk mail, but it did start the ball rolling! Perhaps now some of the users will be tempted the find out how it really is and that's what's important to me. I hate censorship!

That's sadly very true. I personally don't care about the prices and stuff. Prices vary in all industries, if the users are willing to pay extra, fine by me. But the arrogant attitude towards developers they make a living on, that's just wrong... And Catalina is a beautiful display of thatJunSev wrote: Thu Oct 17, 2019 2:29 am Apple overall is arrogant, overpriced and implement constantly bad politics, this is not news.

Why are there companies (even outside the musical instrument industry) that support the new operating system?
For example Celemony: https://www.celemony.com/en/macos-catalina
I always ask myself the question with something like that, why then do others get it on the line, if it is supposed to be hell?
I mean that seriously from the customer's perspective, who doesn't know the background.
The bottom line is I find such public accusations simply unprofessional. Transparency and warning for the customer are fine, but a public bashing has never done anything, no matter what platform it was about.

It was a dumb email to send out, not least because it doesn't actually convey any information and does so in a way that says "dear customer, as a supplier it's up to me to tell you to do something". Yeah, thanks for the advice but maybe it's easier for me to dump your tools than for me to dump the thing you're moaning about.
