Did you even read his post?

If you are satisfied with your Apple platform and you like to put the Apple stickers everywhere you go :), please stop reading now. This article is only for those thinking about a change. If you consider your computer a tool to make music (or any other audio or video processing application for that matter), I'd like to help you with the transition.

and his second email?

Dear customer,

the previous newsletter caused a little confusion among the OSX users. Please note that we are NOT going to stop supporting OSX platform. However we wanted to point out there are certain problems on OSX and there is an alternative.

We are sorry for the confusion.

So why send out the email in the first place?

The blog is hilarious BTW. "It's so simple", followed by some big-assed list of things to decide. It would have probably made more sense to say "go order a prefab from Scan, it'll probably get the job done and you can continue to not have to weigh up chipsets the way you don't now".

From the melda post:

"Again, you will need to make a choice about the configuration and you have usually 3 options:

Choose some predefined / pre-built model from a manufacturer.
Choose the components and let the shop build it for you.
Order the components and build it yourself.
The first option is the easiest; Windows and other software will probably be preinstalled. But please note that while predefined models may be slightly cheaper, choosing one will be hard considering how many there are on the online shop(s) that you look at (probably).

Guess what, I'd recommend building your own computer yourself, simply because it's fun and a cool experience. You'll kinda feel that the computer is truly yours ;). And it's actually really simple, every 15 year old can now build a computer, and they do that regularly. So why wouldn't you? ;) Anyway if you don't feel like it, the other options are fine too."

If building PCs floats your boat, please don't let anyone stop you. But don't assume that other people get the same kick out of it. The problem with these threads is the same bunch of people who think everyone should do things the way they do instead of realising that people make choices for different reasons.

I've built PCs and while it isn't the worst thing in the world I've no real ambition to keep doing it.

That's not my opinion, that's what Vojtech wrote in his post. :dog:

Whether it applies to you or Vojtech, the point is the same.

The "problems" Melda is encountering may have nothing to do with macOS (the simple fact that they can't even get the OS name right demonstrates their lack of comfort).

The condescending and smug attitude in a bulk email was completely unnecessary and very unprofessional. The constant reminders in all his communications that he thinks all mac users buy their computers as status symbols or because we don't know any better or because we like to waste money just finally hit the tupping point.

While disappointing, we're not not necessarily bothered that Vojtech and team aren't able to keep up with the latest in computer development from 2011 and find maintaining updates to the software they promised "free for life" updates for to be so very, painfully annoying to actually have to do. We're bothered that he opened our door and spoke down to us, his loyal customers.

A blog post would have been fine. Totally fine.

And honestly, sending an email to someone saying, "...please stop reading now..." is just begging to be read.

A simple email like most other developers on the planet sent out, such as, "We've encountered unexpected issues with Catalina compatibility. Rest assured, we're working hard to bring you that support as soon as possible. If you'd like to keep your Melda Production plugins running optimally we'd strongly urge you to not update your macOS until we can assure you of that support."

Boom. Done. Happy customers.

This is one of those promises that always bites the developer on the arse. If you bought into the Total Bundle and did so early, it was a fantastic deal and one that has looked increasingly unsustainable as time has progressed. I imagine in that context, having to support people who haven't paid more in quite a long time looks like quite a burden.

The point is: He says you can build a PC yourself or buy a pre-build one, if you choose to
change to a PC/Windows System. If you are satisfied with Apple/OSX, stick with it. That´s all..
I just don´t understand why people get so butthurt.

Can you all calm down a bit now?
Melda is just a programming genius. I can tell he is, I earn my money with IT. This said, does anybody really believe that he sent out this information mail just out of fun or out of boredom? And repeatedly he stated that he won't abondon apple... but you guys will be the first ones writting bitter and hatefull "melda plugin does not work on apple" posts here. Anyway with my folliwing statements I try to get all attention of you apple snobs and turn all your hurt feelings away from Melda and turn it on me.
Apple tries to earn money from everything, they just close down their systems that they get into control of everything and put an extra "apple fee" on everything created by 3rd parties. That is fact.
Some more facts about apple products
1.) Some hardware is on the no fly list of airlines. Why's that? Because they produce cheap low quality behind the shining alu case by exploited 3rd world workers. It looks nice and shiny but us by no means standard... batteries not replaceable in iPods rendering throw away products...
2.) Usb crap https://www.extremetech.com/computing/2 ... io-problem
3.) Fake Fan https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=you ... iCBYAP_Sgg
Now I hope
4.) All that realky works is apples marketing strategy - they give their customets the feeling to be "better" then others, by owning a apple product. Clearly the hurt feelings come from that, because sbdy tells you... the promis does not hold.
So please now, write your absurd complaints to me and leave melda alone. He has to finish MSF which I want to use.

Now...gentleman...start the rant.

@soundeziner
Because they make a mountain out of a molehill?

Can we lay off the ad hominem attacks? No one here has claimed to be better than anyone else except Vojtech. Some of us use macs AND PCs AND Androids AND more. Some of us have a single small laptop that does everything we need and don't want to be bothered. Most of us don't think our macs are inherently better. We don't think they're worse. We. Just. Like. Them. Calling people "snobs" because of a computing platform preference that doesn't have any effect on your IT business is not helpful. If you want to explore "hurt feelings" and "absurd complaints", let's start there. Otherwise, let's stick with discussing the perceived condescending attitude of constantly belittling our chosen tools and telling us we don't know any better. This isn't a discussion about Apple's business practices (some of which are hurtful, some of which are helpful) or hardware (some of which is horrible, some of which is pretty damn awesome). It's about way in which a developer communicates with us, some of which is innocent, a good deal of which is perceived as condescending and inappropriate.

What happens to the terabytes of data on journaled drives if I hypothetically switched to windows ?

Cheers,
Paragon Software produces APSF and HFS+ drivers for Windows. Not sure how good these are but I am using their NTSF for Mac driver and that one works extremely well.
I connected my Mac Mini to my PC via a shared folder over Ethernet and copied - not moved! - the files from one to another. No problems except for Windows cancelling one transfer for some reason thus why I recommend copying and backing up before deleting anything.
