Hi there,
I was not able to find an updated answer to this question, I apologize in advance if I was not able to find it; in case please point me in the right direction.

I am trying to evolve as a player and leave all my heavy keyboards at home and take only midi controllers and a computer with me. I own almost all u-he synths which sounds great so I would like to use them live. I need to tweak parameters while playing, like when I am on my Virus, and in general I'm having good vibrations with it. But (there is a but, yes) looks like I'm not able to use MIDI learn on Repro-1/5 VST3. I'm using Bitwig 3.03 and an M-audio code61 on Linux (no, no windows).
I'm experiencing some difficulties in general, because all in this field is brand new to me... I've always used all of this stuff just for recording or composing, not for playing.
The other synths, Diva and Hive, have no troubles.
I don't know where the problem can be, if on Bitwig side, on Code61 usage or Repro.
Do you have a clue?
Fabrizio

You will have to use the VST2 version to assign MIDI CCs.
Afterwards you can use those CCs in the VST3 version as well.
But if you want to change assignments, you'd have to switch to the VST2 version again, or use the MIDI table page to add CCs manually.
Steinberg for a long time did not allow MIDI learn from inside the plugin in the VST3 standard, thus it simply cannot work there, at least not for the current version of Repro.

Hi Taz,

thank you so much for answering....
Honestly I feel so grateful when one of you answers my stupid questions... that I just want to thank you again for all your work and your support... just to say...

I was aware of the change in the VST3 specification, reading your forum... what surprised me is that all the other synths recognize MIDI learn... Seems to me related to Repro...
Can you confirm this to me?
It's just a matter of understanding where I am in my process, not to raise a complaint against U-He...
In any case thank you so much...

Ehm... Looks like Zebra doesn't responds too... Ace and Bazille (that I have in demo only, for now) do...

So, please adapt the answer to include these data, too... :-=

Hi Fabrizio, thank you for the kind words, that's really a nice thing to read on a Monday morning. :)

Hive 2.0 responds to MIDI learn in the VST3 version, since we included this functionality very recently.

Most others won't work yet. But they will, once they get updated.

And some, like ACE or Bazille, which are still at revision 3898, do include an older VST3 implementation, which might work, but is not very stable. So we always recommend to not use the VST3 of those old plugins (there is a warning about it in the installer).
