Wow. I didn't realize the quip about Apple stickers was a ginormous insult. I just thought it was a way of saying "if you love your Apple platform and wouldn't even think of changing carry on".

They have a clear opinion, voice it clearly, but don't act on it, out of greed.

Honest? Honest bitching - not honest, consequential acting on their opinion.

Aye it does, but what's KVR without needless inconsequential drama about absolutely nothing. For 13 pages. :D

Is important for independent developers to speak about what is happening, and apple is doing a lot of bad moves constantly; everything medla said and many other developers is true.

The only one acting out of greed is apple with an enormous portion of blind userbase moved for the last "trendings" and mainstream nonsense. Easy Cash $€£ for apple...

I know that Meldaproduction can write some "risky" words sometimes. Sure we could discuss how this is great for the publicity of a company, no question. To me it is rather likeable, since (again) it just shows that this company has a clear opinion and does not hide it. To me at least it feels honest, in a way.

Again I really wonder, why exactly you are still here, haha. Go on and use the plugins from "other developers" then already, please. Seriously: do what is best for you. I really mean it without any negative or offensive thought! :)

Or maybe you could just write clear non-sarcastic posts without being too emotional.
Just f**k Off!

But that's the main issue - it's just general bitching, and no discussion whatsoever about any actual technical issues. What's their problem? Read only OS partition? Notarisations?

Lack of basic technical understanding, and trying to compensate for it by personal prejudice - like 'blind user base'. If you can't intellectually grasp the differences between USB 3 and Thunderbolt 3, it's understandable that you think that people who make a decision to use TB 3 are 'blind', 'sheep', etc.

My best guess is that the Melda guys have been asleep at the wheel for years, and have now fallen so far behind current tech that they're freaking out. Look at their installer for macOS, and compare it with an installer from, say, Goodhertz. Same for the UI - the user interface of Melda plug-ins would not have looked out of place in 1995. Compare that to guys who care - like the interface choices of U-He Presswerk, that make lots of options and complexity easy to use.

Could you clarify a bit what are the differences between usb 3 and thunderbolt 3 for me, and which applications you currently have that utilizes those 'goodies', please?

Speaking in terms of "current" technology - whatever that might be - Have you ever used MTurboReverb in Edit Mode to design your own reverb algorithm with the simple tiny "language" provided by the plugin? Have you watched the seried of 5 videos of Melda explaining how reverbs work and how to build them with his MTurboReverb? Have you ever opened MSF in Edit Mode? Have you? If not, please go ahead, do so and then repeat "fallen behind on current tech"...
In terms of UI. Might be not the most pretty and shining, but it's actually Melda who was one of the first with every single plugin GUI fully scalable. And the UI is simply consistent, logical and modular. A Lfo works same way a Oscillator does. That shows how clever Melda is as a programmer...Programming economy AND focus - spend effort on the feature not the infrastructure. Most other plugins nowadays need to celebrate the arrival of their fixed scaling factors, like for examle Avenger, Rapid, SynthMaster...

Anyway - MODs please close this thread it does not lead anywhere.

USB 3.0: maximum data transfer speed 5 Gbit/s.
USB 3.2: maximum data transfer speed 5-20 Gbit/s, 2-lane operation.
Thunderbolt 3: maximum data transfer speed 40 Gbit/s, 4-lane operation.

So USB 3 is a good choice when the fastest speeds are not critical, like for backup disks. TB 3 is a good choice when lots of data need to be transferred fast between a computer and peripheral, like for video editing, SAN, etc.

When you have a Thunderbolt 3 port, it can be used for USB 3 and Firewire devices. A USB 3 port cannot be used for TB or FW devices.

A Thunderbolt port can be used for driving 4k or5K displays, a USB 3 port can not.

Wikipedia is your friend for further details.

I can wiki me just fine, I asked about the applications which UTILIZE the goodies, there arent many...eGPUs...those need pcie lanes... your 31200 baud midi signal will pass usb1 as fast as it does on a tb3.

We have to agree to disagree on the UI - it's not consistent or logical, and breaks Apple's Human Interface Guidelines in all kinds of ways - but I really appreciate that you make some good, valid points. If we can continue an actual technical discussion in this manner, without personal attacks, the thread would lead somewhere, and become interesting.

Like I said, 'falling behind current tech' is my best guess - but no more than guessing.

Haha, MIDI signals. My first computer was an Atari 1040ST. No audio, MIDI only. No need for speed with MIDI. :)

I did mention applications where TB 3 utilises the full speed. And applications where it makes sense regardless of speed, like 5K displays.

Using more powerful tech (like fast, backwards compatible peripheral connections) also future proofs your hardware purchase. But that's a personal preference as well.
I usually purchase the most powerful computer I can afford, and use it for many years. If you run a business, and buy new computers every 2 years, because it's better for your tax expenses, that's a different, but equally valid choice. Accusing you of being a fashion victim based on not understanding the perfectly sound, technology based choices that you make - just because they're different from my choices - would be counter productive. You (probably) get the point I'm trying to make...

OMG...well, Vojtech expressed his own opinion and has the right for it... A good captain should always trigger the alarm before the ship sinks... We fellow sailors should run for our lives and choose a safeboat... The computer world will always be a stormy world but if you truly respect and love the sound art you create with the aid of these amazing Melda plugs then please people don't be so merciless with the developer's opinions. Afterall it's all about ART and i believe Vojtech's work inspires many of us... His talent brought us these tools out of nothing... Wasn't windows or apple or whatever future platform might exist in the unpredictable future.
No way, it is not an email that will stop me to express: THANK you Vojtech for the amazing work so far!!! We are still waiting for many innovations and surprises to keep on coming out of your imagination!!
