I'm fairly new to Waveform so I'm still finding out things about it. Maybe this is doable already and I'm wrong but if not: It would be such a benefit to be able to drop samples right into the step sequencer channels rather than have to use a sampler to trigger them. I think the option to have both would be great. To be able to drag and drop samples right into channels to would be such a time saver and that's a great thing I think. And taking it further: To be able to drop several samples into the same channel and have the option set it to round robin would be amazing too. Thanks.

Step clips aren't a sampler/sample playback, they can drive any sampler you put on the track, whether that's waveform's own drum sampler, multisampler, Collective, or Battery, Addictive Drums etc etc. Having them host their own samples would actually limit it's flexibility (how do you trim and edit the samples to your liking etc), when that functionality already exists in at least two plugins that ship with the DAW

Step clips are trying to mimic a functionality similar to the functionality of the channel rack in Flstudio and the Drum Rack in Ableton. In both of those examples you can drag and drop what ever you want onto a channel: samples, samplers, synths, drum machines, etc and that's their strengths. I'm suggesting that the step sequencer have the same workflow so it's not limited, and it should be as easy as a drag and drop deal, and do away with the extra unnecessary steps to have to still assign things through a drop down. That's just too many steps.

As to where do do samples get edited? well, The multisampler can be made its default editor. Or create a new sample editing window like the one in Ableton. Which does amazing things btw. We would only benefit from this. Is a very good thing.

I agree that this is how the step clips should work. It's still too complicated to actually set up the step clips at the moment, IMO.

This is one of the reasons why so many producers use FLStudio. The ease of just dropping what ever in a channel and start working. The channel rack in FLS is amazing. But the fact that Waveform has allow it to be brought into a track is the best thing since sliced bread. But unfortunately it's functionality it's not as efficient.

If DAWs worked the same, there would be one DAW. I'm struggling to see how it's "too complicated" to drag and drop samples into the drum sampler, or multisampler, to use with step clips.

I'm just pointing out how it can be more efficient. I love streamlining my workflow. The less I'm setting up things to get my ideas out, the faster that I'm getting them out of my head. What I'm suggesting helps speed up the setup process. It will help you even if you don't understand it.

Chico the way step clips is set up right now I won't even bother using it. I rather just drop samples on the arranger than have togo through the trouble of:

1. Create track
2. Grab drop sampler
3. Drag drop sampler into sampler
4. Create zones

It's all so unnecessarily tedious.

In FLStudio:
1.drop sample into channel.. Done

It's not FL Studio, it works differently. If you won't bother using it, well, I think i'll be fine with that. You haven't understood the left to right paradigm in this, or that tracks can feed other tracks, what that lets you do, how to use track presets, why you don't need to create zones etc. If you like FL Studio, use FL studio.

Can you please explain to me this left to right paradigm that your are talking about? Perhaps if I understand it I may see things in a different light.
